Default wpt doyle brunson event

the doyle brunson world poker tour even was recently shown in america (ok so i got the torrent)this was actually one of the more interesting ones to watch (which isn't necessarily saying that much).it had Dan Harrington on the final table which was the first chance i'd had to see him play since reading his booksto be honest i thought he played looser than i expected given his 'action' reputation and/or strategy in books. mind you it's easy for me to say that when a) i can see all the cards, b) i'm not very goodanybody else see this episode?

Surely an action player is loose by definition?Plays a lot of hands, gives a lot of action?Have a look at Sammy Farha in episodes 4-7of first season of "High Stakes Poker". There'san action player for you.

it's a sarcastic nickname, hence my quoting of the word farha is great in high stakes poker. loose and running well

Track down Farha and Negreanu WSOP 2005 firstsession TV table. Farha keeps drawing out onDaniel who keeps making great laydowns. Noneof Daniel's draws ever hit. Nice respect betweenthe two name players at that table.

'Action Dan' might be ultra tight in cash games and early/mid stages of a tournament. However, he is not stupid and knows that you gotta play loose at the final table, which I believe he also says in his books?I haven't seen the episode so I cant comment further...

I've just finished watching this episode Gavin Smith played some exquisite poker. Some of the highlights werea) Holding KQ, he limps from the SB, hits his Q on the river making top pair, then being first to act he CHECKS and calls the half pot bet by Minh Ly. It was a reasonably non scary board...no flush possibilities, no pairs and his only danger was if Minh Ly held 3,5 for the straight...which he did. (b) Minh Ly raises in LP with J9o and Gavin (with a larger stack) pushes from the BB holding T9o. Minh obviously folds...(c) Gavin raises with A7 and Minh Ly pushes with K8. Gavin is left crippled if he loses the race. He makes a great call and unfortunately for him Minh spikes the K.Minh was playing wildly...consistently getting his chips in with the worst of it and/or incorrect odds. Dan played some great poker...almost took down the title when he had Minh on the ropes with all the chips in the middle and Dan holding the dominating hand...but he lost that pot and Minh made the comeback.A very enjoyable WPT!
