    Default WSOP Day 4

Thankyou Gnu,for the update.Nine Aussies on the fourth day is quite impressive.I expected Jeff and Pokerbok to do wellbut I never expected so many to make it to the 4th day.No matter what I thought of Joes' ability up to now,I must say that he has convinced me that he can play.To make it this far defending his title is fantastic. No matter where Joe finishes now,his effort in the two years has been phenomenal.I am actually starting to believe that it is possible for another Aussie win, making it back to back Aussie champions.

Big name pros left in the field: Daniel Negreanu, Cyndy Violiette, David Chiu (chip leader), and Humberto Brenes. Another memorable face should be Mikael Thuritz - winner of the first Speed Poker Championships in Melbourne '05 (the first live event I ever cashed in!)

Speak of the devil...Sat Aug 05 12:35:00 PDT 2006Mikael Thuritz DoublesKelly Fitzsimmons raises to $13,000 preflop and is called by Mikael Thuritz. The flop brings the 10c9h6c, and Thuritz checks. Fitzsimmons bets $25,000 and Thuritz raises $50,000 more. Fitzsimmons thinks for a moment then reraises all in. Thuritz calls instantly and reveals the 10d10s. Fitzsimmons shows the Jc9c. Neither player improves their hand on the turn or river, and Thuritz's set gives him the pot and doubles him up to approximately $320,000. Fitzsimmons is now sitting at $150,000.

Unfortunately in appears Mark Vos has been eliminated in 457th spot. I'm sure he'll fill us in with the details soon enough.

Can you smell a repeat?Sat Aug 05 13:10:00 PDT 2006Defending Champ Doubles upAn opponent raises to $15,000 preflop and Joe Hachem moves all-in for $105,000 more from the small blind. The opponent thinks for awhile and finally makes the call with 5c5d. Hachem shows AsQs. The board comes QhQd9s2s4s and Hachem hits a set of Queens and just for kicks hits the nut flush as well. The defending champ now has $240,000.
