Well the APL claim they have a letter from the commissioner stating that all free poker games are legal in pubs so, if they're telling the truth, there should be no problems...yoyo

If they have a letter from a state other than Qld - they have a problem. With the APL if you win the season/accumulate so many points then you get to play in a torny in Sydney which does have cash prizes - this is where one problem arises.Another problem is NL Poker is an "unlawful" game in Qld regardless of the stakes/buy in etc or where it is played - why do they think Treasury and Jupiters don't have NL ?My lawyer & barrister (they are mates of mine) did a bit of reading for me and basically even a home game of NL playing for matchsticks is illegal in Qld.Good luck to those involved in the raid - anybody hear what happened in court in adelaide on thursday ?

This sounds like a load of BS from your lawyer friends. The Treasury is licenced to conduct games of chance, which depends on what the gaming commission lets them get away with. The gaming commission was very strict with introducing limit poker. With NL being more complex, the casino and commission have a lot to work out. I think this is why qld casino's don't have NL yet; not because its illegal, lol.Trent.

So any information you can give me as to the legality of poker in Qld (and australia for that matter) would be an amazing headstart.if anyone knows any information, or can pass anythign on, please use my email address or post here. thanks in advanceJOsh

It is such a grey area, when really it should be simple. Poker is a game of skill, just as backgammon and chess are. Unfortunately because it is played in casinos people are ignorant to this.
