Default 10 minute penalty,in case he is guilty?

I was away for a couple of days and just read the above. It seems that someone in the Main Event got a 10 minute penalty, after he folded AA,"just in case he was guilty of cheating".Is this a joke or did it really happen?Anyone know?

From what I've read it did happen.JK, I am also suprised he got a penalty if collusion was only "suspected" - if there was no proof, I don't like the penalty.I'm also not sure why if he was indeed colluding, why the hell he would show his hand. It is shocking enough he folded AA, but to then tell everyone about it even weirder. But I am interested in all the facts first.

In my opinion and from what I have read from the live updates, the tournament director did an excellent job with this ruling.

From the "facts" I have heard, I think it is a terrible decision, but I will discuss more and comment later after I have spoken to more people and when I have more time. From what I have heard from someone who was sitting on the table when it happened, it sounds like a really bad decision.yoyo

I don't know what question is more important:1) Should someone be given a 10 minute penalty *in case* they are colluding2) How did someone who folds AA in that position actually find themselves in a $1,750 buyin event in the first placeFor what it's worth, I don't like the decision either. N.B. I have no information as to what actually happened. My mind keeps telling me if someone is actually stupid enough to think that folding AA there is helpful a) to him or b) to his opponent that early in a tournament (shipping 3k to the so called 'partner') then the penalty of him being so naive to think he will actually do well is more than enough.

The guy got moved next to me whilst he was still doing time for the penalty. As it happened our table was talking about it at the time & when he heard he was very embarrassed but confirmed it was him we were talking about. He confirmed he did not want to bust out of the tournament early so he folded the aces pre flop to an all in bet! To be honest the guy looked very nervous for the whole hour he lasted. I would guess he was either in his first tournament or qualified through the APA or something like that.

I spoke with someone on the table at the time. Appears it was this guy's 2nd live tournament, and he literally said that he was afraid to have his aces cracked so early in the tournament and have to leave, having paid the $1650 entry fee. Basically, he was looking to get more playing time for his money. Personally, with aces in the hole and that sort of action coming in to me, there'd be skid marks behind my chip stack as I pushed it into the middle!
    What's that? You're drawing to a one-outer? Okay, I fold.

Hey Hey Hey Knightpistol, no one who actually won a satellite through the APA would of made that move.

If it is true that he folded the aces, then there is no punishment that could make him worse off than he already was. How could 10 minutes of defenselessly loosing your blinds be worse than tossing away the biggest advantage a player can hope for?The worst penalty this player could suffer would be to have a mirror held in front of his face.
