When I originally saw this thread, I had made up my mind that I would not by into this arugment with someone who is looking for self promotion.

Playa has put a big generalisation blanket over the Aboriginal Race which in my view and experience, is not worthy of validation from any source. Its the same as saying that all Germans are Nazi, Jew killers. Its just not fact and would be ignorant to entertain the idea of it being so.

My family rock up to Australia in the 40s from Ukraine.

    No english, no money, nothing.

Through hard work they created the Church and studied hard at school.

My family then produced a doctor, a HR manager and a teacher (mother).

There was no handouts, no one holding their hand. Not even the same language.

Could you honestly see Aboriginal Australia with this initiative?
This is the most retarded case point I have ever seen......EVER.....
Your family rocks up in the 40's, they are white and are not subjected to the same prejudice as the indigenous population of Australia. Of course your family has the chance to get paid work. When you say they created the church, do you mean they created their own religion??

Your family rocks up in the 40s where the Aust govt has a "populate or perish" ideals going on, so your family would have been welcomed by the australian people, the same people who would think that their race is a far more superior race than the indigenous population. I mean, we were not even classed as citizens until the 1969 when we were allowed to vote. WTF that is over 20yrs since your family has come to OZ. No way have the aboriginal people had the same oppurtunities as your migrated family.

What "all other treaties"??? Treaties are what were given to the Amercian Indians not to aboriginal people. As for it being resolved, it was more like it being offically acknowledged.

I am not going to go into white australia paying debt to Aboriginies.

Very simple to state but would have been more intelligent to explain.

I have to agree with a lot of what Playa said.

Nothing but respect for those people.

However, i see no hallmarks of an intelligent people. If they were, 50% of our jails woudnt be aboriginal for a start.
Where are you looking for these hallmarks?

The media is not concerned with the aboriginal people that ARE doctors, that are Teachers, that ARE CEO's, that ARE part of the backbone of todays society. It would appear that the media are interested in the "Intervention programs", the alcohol and drug abuse, the crime rate that our people are involved in.

My Mother was a Assistant Director of education QLD, My father was a highly respected teacher/ liason, policy officer/ cross cultural awarness trainer, program writer. I have 2 aunties that are teachers, one who is acting principal of a primary school. I have a cousin that is an Paramedic. We, the aboriginal race are intelligent people. I know heaps of aborignal people that are in highly respected positions.

I am not going to deny that there is a high amount of aborignal inmates in Australia's system, the fact is there are. Too many. I cant and wont defend crime.

I am suprised that playa hasnt mentioned the high amount of deaths in custody of aboriginal people.

You sound like a smart aboriginal man. I have no beef with you, also theres no reason to disagree with me on the whole as denial doesnt help.

As for the media, i have seen countless shows about indigenous people doing shows well. Hell, theres even a show on the ABC that i forgot its name where each week they profile another Aboriginal success story.

You should be on my side brother.
