Be weary of working in the UK legally... make sure you get yourself sorted early. I lived in Ireland for 3 years with my Irish wife. Although I was legit in Ireland it was more financially beneficial for me to work in Norhtern Ireland (UK) and earn GBP. I did so and we moved across the border. Similar to Australia you need a National Insurance Number (same as TFN) and they put you on a temporary number before giving you the proper one. This takes six months in which time they told me that I was illegal as my automatic 6 month visa had expired. Having said that i still remained there for another 2 1/2 years. BUT There is little or no work in the North West where I was. Go Mid to South Ireland - Galway is great. There is no benefit in working in Norhtern Ireland for GDP as it is almost like-for-like now to the Euro Forget working - go straight on the dole which should be possible given you have an Irish passport. I got the dole the minute i got off the plane on the basis of my irish wife. Then get a cash job for one or two days. Good Luck And if you ever go to Ballybofey in the North West - make sure you go to Pat Bonners pub. |
