Default RBR fireworks.

Although Webber had outperformed Vettel for most of the weekend, after Vettel busted his new front wing, he was given Webber's. And took P1 by 1/10th of a second in Q3.

The post-qual FIA interview was pretty hof.

Q: Mark, I think there were some new parts on the car?
MW: Yep, there were. Always pushing hard, yes.

Q: You just missed being able to have another lap. Would that have made any difference?
MW: No. Always planned one timed.

Q: Briefly off in Q2. But fastest lap.
MW: On the prime. Was it at the start?

Q: No, at the end. You had a brief off according to the screens.
MW: Maybe on the prime at the start.

Q: That wasn’t a major problem?
MW: Q3 is what it is all about.

Q: You have been second in the race before. You have been second in qualifying before. Would you be happy with second tomorrow? Are you happy with second on the grid today?
MW: No, of course not.

Q: And you wouldn’t be happy with second tomorrow?
MW: No.

Q: So can we expect to see the two of you fighting it out?
MW: We will see. I would rather be third on the grid, probably. Fernando is on the clean side. As usual we know that second on the grid at most tracks this year is shit, so that’s why pole is a big... If Fernando wants to change, I don’t know if we can. But it is a long race, so let’s see what happens.

Q: Fernando, do you want to change?
FA: I prefer second than third.

Q: You prefer second to third.
FA: Eight metres, I think.
MW: It is a pretty big gap, so we will see. I am sure I can sort it out and follow Sebastian through the first corner.

Q: Fernando, you had a little bit of traffic during your lap. Did that make a big difference?
FA: No difference. I think the Red Bulls are seven-tenths in front, so if I lose half-a-tenth it makes no difference.

Q: Is that a margin you expected, those seven-tenths?
FA: Yes.

QUESTIONS FROM THE FLOOR
Q: (Andrew Benson - BBC Sport) To Mark and Sebastian: after Turkey, the team said there was no favouritism one way or the other. This afternoon, although Sebastian’s wing fell off, it was you, Sebastian, who got the one version of the new front wing. Can you both comment on what you feel about that?
MW: I think the team is happy with the result today.
SV: From the outside, it’s sometimes quite difficult to judge what’s going on. We know what we’re doing, I think.
Vettel: "We know what we're doing...I think."
It was the story of the day at qualifying for the British Grand Prix, the off-track maneuvers within the Red Bull team prompting intrigue, if not speculation of favoritism. After Sebastian Vettel qualified on the pole and teammate Mark Webber finished second, a hairs length behind, Webber sat through the post-qualifying news conference tight-lipped and closed off.

The back story is that Vettel had made a mistake in the morning practice and destroyed his own cars front wing. It was a new design. The team decided to take the front wing from Webbers car also the new design and put it on Vettels car.

Webbers body language appeared to convey his belief that he could have had the pole if he did not lose the front wing to his teammate. Judging by the distance between the two drivers at the news conference it is hard to think otherwise.

So the media pressed, trying to pry out of the drivers if there was favoritism going on at Red Bull. Its worth checking out the quote in my story today about teammates in which Christian Horner, the Red Bull team director, said both drivers are being treated equally. But now? Webber, by offering a bland quote that did not address the issue, seemed instead to indicate his own frustration:

I think the team is happy with the result today, Webber said, in a deadpan manner. He did not elaborate.

The incident had life throughout the afternoon as other teams were asked what they thought of the move. At the McLaren Mercedes news conference, the drivers were asked if that sort of thing would happen at McLaren taking a wing off one drivers car and giving it to the other driver.

Jenson Button answered that he would rather be in second place than in 14th, which cast a little bit of perspective on the matter, as the reigning world champion had a disastrous qualifying in his home race. Martin Whitmarsh then said his team did all it could to treat the drivers equally and the drivers said nothing like that had, in fact, happened at McLaren.

A similarly joking response came from Ross Brawn at Mercedes who said that he wished that Red Bull had given the front wing to one of his cars.
hmm my professional opinion is that Vettel pretty much got his face completely fucking owned by Webber.

Like utter and complete and comprehensive crushing.

Then Vettel almost lost his f mind again and that huge swerve into Webber had me twitching deja vu. But Webber is like...old and experienced and shit. That kiddie stuff is for go-kart leagues.

Then Vettel, crushed and panicked, either got tagged from behind or had a brain explosion and went off - not sure what happened there...? I mean, you have to think he got tagged otherwise it's just ridiculous going off there...but not sure if they were able to spot a tap?

He got tagged by Hamilton it seems, but clearly his own fault.

Webber will no doubt be very happy with Lewis later.

Always nice to see that grinning little tosser leave the track.

Vettel's cracking under the pressure of F1.

That was way more luck than good management that he got past Sutil there and remained on track.

Webber is just like destroying RBR's duplicity with his insane owning. It has to be driving the dipshits driving RBR's long term strategy insane. They should have just organised with Webber to be the Number 2 at start of season rather than pressing on with this endless "equal treatment" crap, then so obviously not treating them equal.

Then getting their faces owned over and over as a result.

Helmut Marko is such a fucking moran. It's hilarious. I think Horner is somehow his little bitch, but I don't understand why that old coot seems to drive RBR internal strategy. He's senile.
Q: (Bob McKenzie The Daily Express) Mark, what about that with the wing? The wing that you ran today, was that the wing that was in dispute yesterday and should that sort of thing happen?
MW: No, I dont think it should. Obviously I wasnt massively in favour of the decision but thats the way it goes sometimes. But once the cars in parc ferme, obviously thats the car you race with from qualifying, so I obviously raced today with the same car that I qualified which, it must be said, still it wasnt too bad. But some of the drivers offered me some front wings from their cars on the (drivers) parade lap but I said I would stick with what Ive got. Seb didnt but some of the other guys tried to offer me a front wing.

Q: (Ian Gordon - News of the World) Mark, fantastic win, thoroughly deserved. Given Red Bull have said that whoever leads the championship will have priority, will you get the better bits on the car in Hockenheim?
MW: Should do. I should do. Yesterday was a really unique situation. It was the first time that the team had really had one component. Honestly I would never have signed a contract again for next year if I believed that that was the way it was going to be going forward. Thats why I was disappointed yesterday and was honest with you guys. Lets see how it goes in the future but I just keep doing what I do and hopefully its enough.

Q: (Edd Straw Autosport) Mark, you said there would be some discussions with the team; does that mean you will be demanding that should this situation arise again, you dont get cast in the position where youre the number two?
MW: Yup. />
Q: (Andrew Benson BBC Sport) Mark, Eddie Jordan just described this as poetic justice. Is that how it feels to you?
MW: An appointment with karma, is it? Yeah.
Fired-up Mark Webber wins as Sebastian Vettel fails to make pole pay | Sport | The Guardian
When it was all over here today, and the Red Bull team principal, Christian Horner, had walked away from his last difficult interview, he muttered: "By the way we have just won the fucking British grand prix."

He said it with a weary smile and it summed up the frustration of the man who presides over the fastest cars in Formula One. Red Bull have also won more races, five, than any other team this season.

Today, though, the Milton Keynes-based team are widely perceived as being divided and maladroitly managed. In winning the British grand prix the Australian Mark Webber gave the impression that he had to overcome not only the other 23 drivers on the grid but also team Red Bull, who have clearly learned nothing from the debacle in Turkey six weeks ago when their two drivers crashed into each other when running first and second.

Webber and his team-mate, Sebastian Vettel, were running on full feud levels today. Webber has been fuming all weekend because of the preferential treatment shown to Vettel and his own feelings spilled over at the end of therace when he said: "Not bad for a No2 driver."

He punched the air with triumph, a vivid contrast to flying through it in the apparent direction of oblivion in Valencia two weeks ago. He will have talks with his team tomorrow to clarify his position. And as his position is now the leading driver at Red Bull, according to the championship standings, he should expect the same preferential treatment if the same invidious situation arises.

The earnest and reasonable sounding Horner assured everyone that this would be the case. Tonight, however, the impression remained that he is taking orders from those above him, and in particular from Helmut Marko, a "motor sport consultant" but the man who really calls the shots at Red Bull.
