Converting AVI to an iPod format

Thanks for that Ali!! I'm just having the problem now of getting the AVI onto iTunes, to get onto the iPod. It doesn't accept AVI files. Is there another way of getting it onto the iPod?

After you install the VLC app you go into Apps in itunes and copy them over there
