    Default Foxtel IQ2

Does anyone know if you can / how to download from a Foxtel IQ2 box?
I see that it has a USB port, but wanted to know if programs can be uploaded
to a PC somehow, and then watched at a later time. I don't want to share them
or do anything else with them, just make some space on the box, and watch the
programs later (ie: before I have to delete them because harddrive in the box is
    full).
Anybody know if it can be done and/or how/what to do?
    Thanks,

    BFB

    Hi Wal,

Check out DTV Forum Australia - Australia's Leading Digital TV and AV Forum -> Foxtel Digital

As far as I know you cant use the USB to download/upload. You can however whack in a larger hard drive into the iq2.

    Cheers

The only way to get the files is to take out the hard drive - but then they're so encrypted they're useless anyway - you can record them to a PVR (if you can find one with the correct inputs) or a TV Capture card - but it's probably quicker / easier to just download the content ...

Thanks Coops and DaNRL, it was worth a shot.

Coops, you coming down to Coogee (Renatos) any time?
    Not a bad game there.

Didn't read too much of the 27 pages, but did find this:

Can I record Foxtel to my Computer ?
Yes if you have appropriate video/audio inputs on your computer. Use an
analogue video(component/s-video,composite)/audio input to capture and
record from the Foxtel set top box outputs (see the Configurations section
below and equate your computer with Recorder references).
You cannot buy a standard off the shelf Foxtel Digital tuner card (like you
can with Digital Free To Air and some satellite services) because Foxtel don't
authorize any and they use NDS Videoguard encryption (if you do find a soft/
emulated CAM that works there is no guarantee it will continue to in the future).

    and

    Can I transfer files to/from Foxtel iQ/iQ2 ?
No the USB/Ethernet(480iQ/iQ2) port cannot currently be used to transfer files
(for viewing on other devices etc).
