Default English Premier League 2011 Betting

New EPL season about to start, so it's time to butter up after a successful World Cup campaign.

Here's a brief club by club breakdown...

Premier League preview | Herald Sun

For the record, my predictions are:

    1st Chelsea
    2nd Manchester City
    3rd Arsenal
    4th Manchester United

    Relegated:
    Blackpool
    West Brom
    Wigan

    Opening round matches:
    Tottenham Hotspur ($2.40) v Manchester City ($3.00); draw ($3.20)
Aston Villa ($2.00) v West Ham United ($3.85); draw ($3.30)
    Blackburn Rovers ($2.97) v Everton ($2.42); draw ($3.20)
    Bolton Wanderers ($2.20) v Fulham ($3.35); draw ($3.25)
    Sunderland ($2.20) v Birmingham ($3.35); draw ($3.25)
    Wigan Athletic ($1.85) v Blackpool ($4.60); draw ($3.30)
    Wolverhampton Wanderers ($2.32) v Stoke City ($3.15); draw ($3.20)
    Chelsea ($1.16) v West Bromwich Albion ($17.00); draw ($7.00)
    Liverpool ($2.50) v Arsenal ($2.85); draw ($3.20)
    Manchester United ($1.25) v Newcastle United ($12.50); draw ($5.50)

    Locks: Chelsea, Manchester United
Value: West Ham to get a result against a Villa side that just lost their biggest asset - manager Martin O'Neill; Blackpool to steal a draw in their first EPL match.
    Avoid: just about everything else!

Actually, don't like this opening round a lot from a multi's perspective (it can be seen that many matches are a toss-up).

Regardless, bring on the new season!

Ah the EPL is back. Good times. This is the only competition I will not bet on as my hatred for all teams not from Liverpool and not in red prevents me from rationalising any selections. In saying that

    Spurs/Man City draw
    Fulham to beat Bolton
    Chelsea to beat WBA
    Everton/Blackburn draw

    Bring it on.

Wow, saw the replay of Villa-West Ham. The Hammers were lol-bad; but not as laughable as Wigan, spanked 0-4 by the anticpated easy-beats of the EPL, Blackpool...

Haven't actually laid an EPL bet to date, but am in the mood. Blackburn v Arsenal underway, so let's see what is on top the rest of the weekend (picks in bold):

    SATURDAY
    Chelsea v Stoke @ $1.11
Blackpool v Fulham - no bet
    Wolves v Newcastle @ $2.93
    Spurs v Wigan @ $1.25
    Man Utd v West Ham @ $1.14

    SUNDAY
Bolton vs Birmingham draw @ $3.30
Sunderland v Man City @ $4.35 in an upset
    Liverpool v West Brom $1.28
    Aston Villa v Everton draw @ $3.20

No value tonight, perhaps look for the obvious bets in handicap betting. May go the 4 leg multi tomorrow @ $58.80 instead for the proverbial shits and giggles.

Did you add the Aston Villa game after an edit?

Pretty sure your original three-leg multi for approx $16-1 was on the money..

Sort of - I thought the Villa game was on Monday night, but realised about an hour before the Bolton game that it was in fact on Sunday night - hence the change.

WP, GG, jog it in Chop... hopefully someone who saw the original post got on board (it was actually around the $17.75 mark, out to about $18.40 last night).....it's no wonder I woke up feeling ill this morning!

    Righto, selections for the weekend:

    - Everton to draw with Manchester Utd ($3.30) - Rooney has been left out after revelations that he has been spending his dough on 1,000 pound a night hookers.
    - Arsenal to beat Bolton ($1.23)
    - Fulham to draw with Wolves ($3.40)
    - Manchester City to beat Blackburn ($1.45)
    - Newcastle to beat Blackpool ($1.52)
    - West Brom to be beaten by Spurs ($2.15)
    - West Ham to be beaten by Chelsea ($1.33)
    - Wigan to draw with Sunderland ($3.20)
    - Birmingham to draw with Liverpool ($3.20)
    - Stoke to be beaten by Aston Villa ($2.80)

Multis: anchor Chelsea and Arsenal; to a slightly lesser extent Newcastle, and Manchester City - look incorporate the high draw potentials in Wigan-Sunderland, Birmingham-Liverpool and maybe Fulham-Wolves for a bit of extra value, also include Spurs. Leave out unless you're feeling very confident the Everton-Man Utd, Stoke-Villa matches.

I have plumped for Chelsea, Arsenal, Newcastle, Spurs and draws for Fulham-Wolves and Wigan-Sunderland at just over the $58 mark.

GL if you're having a punt.

EDIT: Ended up omitting Newcastle at the last minute following a gut feeling - just need Spurs to score without reply and the rest to hold dagnab it!

Everton v Man Utd showing why the EPL probably has the most exciting action in the world game...

Big point for Blackburn away at Man City today.

Slight disparity in the two teams ... Rovers spent $0.00 in the off-season, Man City spent $130 million.

MBN to just bring on David Silva with 5 minutes to go as an "impact player".
