2011 NRL Fantasy League

Hi everyone, looking for some new players to join my fantasy league competition. This will be the 12th season we have run this and its a slightly different but better format than the nrl/courier mail/nrlonfox and similarly run leagues.

I feel its better as we are more flexible with player recruitment since we have no salary cap to worry about, this way you can choose whoever you like. Each team plays a round robin style season just like the NRL, so you play every other team at least once. Then after the 26 rounds we play a finals series with either a top 8 or top 10 (depends on numbers).

I have already made a list of players and there are just under 500 available. For team selection I have also made this quite simple as I have placed players into 5 seperate categories. Backs, utility backs, utilities, forwards and utility forwards. This means players that play fullback/wing/centre are all in the backs lists this way you have better selection as to who you have rather than choosing a specific fullback etc.

Just like in the NRL positions 1-5 are wingers/centers/fullbacks so you choose 5 players from the backs lists for these positions same goes for positions 8,10,11,12 and 13 you choose any 5 players to fill these positions from the forwards lists. then utilities are any player to fill your 6,7 and 9 positions. So its just like the NRL as you cant have 5 wingers running around as your forward pack. You choose 17 run on players and 7 reserves so you have 24 players to draw from each week.

Scoring is simple, your player scores a try your team gets 4 points your nominated goalkicker also scores 2 points for each goal he scores. Points are scored purely on tries, goals and field goals. so it doesnt matter if your forward makes 50 tackles and 12 hit ups if he doesnt score a try etc he gets no points, this way its simple and just like owning a NRL franchise your playing to win the 2 points each week by scoring more points than your opponent for that week.

We have an entry fee of $50 per team last year we had 18 teams. Prizes are awarded for ko comp winners, minor premier, highest points scored for the team for the year, finalists and of course premiers. If there is enough interest and you want a bigger buyin I can run a seperate league with that bigger buyin.

If anyone is unsure I can send through last years season which shows everything from teams to grand finalists this way you can get a clearer picture of how its run.

This is for fun the prize money isnt thousands but worthwhile for small stakes. Its mainly enjoying the full season and winning something at the end.

I thought there would be interest in this. But again incase people are not sure its the same as anyother fantasy league except we have no salary cap, greater selection of players and more flexible as to how you position your team.

Its $50 to enter prizes awared to finalists, Minor premiers, highest point scoring team and we run a knock out comp for a bonus prize.

It seems to make a huge mess of numbers when I view it but before submission it looks fine, so I hope you can see it ok.

the top line shows games played, won lost etc but TF and TA mean tries for and tries against same for goals and field goals.

There is a fair bit of detail in the files I send each week so you can really see how your team is going and the other teams are going.

also you see every week who your playing and the exact team everyone on the comp is fielding, in fact within the first few weeks the final draw in sent to everyone, reason it takes a bit is because of last minute team submissions means I have to factor all teams into the draw and it can take a little working to complete.

So come on you league fans give it a go or at least let me send you the excel files so you can see how last years comp went and what you need to do for this year in picking your squad and making player changes.
