Five-Bet from Phillips

Posted 2011-01-26 GMT+11 • Level 12: 1,200-2,400, 400 ante

From early position, Semon Deeb raised to 5,800. Two players called and then Carter Phillips three-bet to 28,200 from the small blind. Play moved back to Deeb and he four-bet to 55,000. The two flat callers in the middle folded and action moved back to Phillips. Phillips thought and then moved all in for right around 200,000. Deeb tanked and let it go, saying, "You don't like being raised, do you?"

Phillips won the pot and moved to about 275,000. Deeb dropped to 185,000.

Lederer with the Ol' Limp Reraise from Under the Gun

Posted 2011-01-26 GMT+11

Howard Lederer limped under the gun for 2,400 and action folded to the hijack seat. He raised to 6,500 with approximately 43,000 behind. Action folded back around to Lederer and he reraised to 93,000 in order to put the player all in. After a brief hesitation, the player folded and Lederer won the pot to increase to 195,000 in chips.

Kirk Straightens Out Antonius

Posted 2011-01-26 GMT+11 • Level 12: 1,200-2,400, 400 ante

From under the gun, Patrik Antonius raised to 6,500. Matthew Kirk called from the hijack seat and the flop came down {Q-Spades}{10-Spades}{8-Diamonds}. Both players checked through to the {9-Hearts} turn. They also checked there and the {Q-Hearts} paired the board on the river.

After the river, Antonius checked and Kirk bet 10,500. Antonius made the call, but couldn't beat Kirk's straight with the {A-Spades}{J-Hearts}. He mucked and dropped to 183,000 while Kirk moved to 221,000.

Ferguson Draws Out Then Chops

Posted 2011-01-26 GMT+11 • Level 12: 1,200-2,400, 400 ante

The action folded round to Team Full Tilt Poker member Chris Ferguson in the small blind.

He opted to push for roughly his lat 29,000 and the big blind immediately made the call.

Ferguson: {A-Hearts}{4-Clubs}
Opponent: {A-Diamonds}{10-Spades}

With Ferguson needing a miracle to remain alive, the {3-Spades}{2-Hearts}{5-Diamonds} flop saw him flop the wheel to take a commanding lead in the hand.

The {Q-Spades} on the turn changed little, but it would be the {4-Spades} on the river that would see the antes chopped up as Ferguson was unlucky not to receive his full share of the pot.

Double Digits

Posted 2011-01-26 GMT+11 • Level 12: 1,200-2,400, 400 ante

With the third of the upstairs Studio 3 tables breaking down into the major tournament area, we are now down into double digits.

With 93 players remaining we are just twenty-one eliminations away from reaching the money and the guaranteed AUD$15,000!

Sigshee Climbing

Posted 2011-01-26 GMT+11 • Level 12: 1,200-2,400, 400 ante

Shane Sigshee opened with a raise preflop and found a call from Michael Ryan before an opponent in the blinds shipped it for 35,200.

Sigshee deliberated for a few moments before making the call as Ryan passed.

Sigshee: {9-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}
Opponent: {8-Spades}{8-Hearts}

The board ran out {10-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}{6-Clubs}{J-Spades}{4-Hearts} to see Sigsbee eliminate his opponent and move to 205,000 in chips.

Marcus Finds that Double

Posted 2011-01-26 GMT+11 • Level 12: 1,200-2,400, 400 ante
"Get in the van!"
"Get in the van!"

Kristian Lunardi raised to 5,100 from the cutoff seat and Van Marcus moved all in from the big blind for 21,200. Lunardi called.

Lunardi: {A-Spades}{9-Spades}
Marcus: {3-Diamonds}{3-Spades}

The flop came down {J-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}{7-Hearts} and gave Lunardi a gutshot to go with his two overcards. Marcus knew he needed to dodge a lot of cards on the turn or river and stood from his chair in anticipation.

The turn brought the {K-Clubs} and kept Marcus in the lead. "Pair the board!" he yelled awaiting the river.

The dealer did just that, landing the {8-Clubs} on the river to pair the board and finish off the hand with Marcus in the lead. With a clap of his hands he sat back into his seat and gathered up his chips. He's back to 46,800 now and has some much needed breathing room.

Marcus In Need of a Double

Posted 2011-01-26 GMT+11 • Level 12: 1,200-2,400, 400 ante

Full Tilt Poker Red Pro Van Marcus has "been folding for hours". He's nursing the severe short stack and just recently shoved all in from early position for 14,800, or just over six big blinds. No one could find a hand to call him with and Marcus scooped some much needed chips.

Seal Four-Bets

Posted 2011-01-26 GMT+11 • Level 12: 1,200-2,400, 400 ante

Emanuel Seal opened the cutoff to 5,200 before Kristian Lunardi three-bet to 12,600 from the button.

Once the blinds passed, Seal made it 45,200 to go to force an eventual fold from Lunardi.
