Esfandiari Doubles a Shorty

Posted 2012-06-07 GMT-6

Antonio "The Magician" Esfandiari raised to 500 from the cutoff position and action folded around to the player in the big blind, who three-bet all in for 5,500. Esfandiari quickly announced, "Call," and hands were revealed.

Esfandiari: {A-Diamonds}{K-Spades}
Opponent: {J-Spades}{J-Hearts}

The {2-Spades}{3-Hearts}{5-Spades}{10-Clubs}{10-Diamonds} board failed to improve Esfandiari's hand and his opponent doubled through him.

Still, it has been a good level for Esfandiari, who is currently sitting on 17,000.

Blom Bluffs Some Off

Posted 2012-06-07 GMT-6

Viktor Blom is well-known for being a hyper-aggressive player. His "live by the sword, die by the sword" style has paid off for him thus far - but even Blom can get caught with his hand in the cookie jar on occasion.

We caught up with the action on a {6-Spades}{9-Hearts}{6-Clubs} flop, where Blom and his lone opponent checked.

The turn brought a {Q-Clubs} and Blom quickly fired a 700 bet into the middle. His opponent called behind.

Blom did not shy away on the {2-Spades} river and fired 1,200. His opponent thought it over and tossed in a call. Blom insta-mucked his hand without showing.

The online-phenom, who recently won the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure High Roller event is still healthy with 27,000.

Another two levels are in the books and the field is going on break.

"Everything About You Says You Have It."

Posted 2012-06-07 GMT-6 • Level 4

We found Daniel Negreanu facing a big decision on the river. The board read {7-Spades} {3-Spades} {6-Diamonds} {A-Diamonds} {Q-Spades} and his opponent, the small blind, bet 2,750.

"How can I fold?" Negreanu mumbled to himself. "I want to call but everything about you says you have it."

"Do you want me to do something else?" his opponent asked. Then he covered his face with his hoodie.

After hemming and hawing for few moments Negreanu tossed in the call and the small blind said, "Aw, you've got it."

Negreanu tabled {A-Clubs} {Q-Hearts} for two pair and his opponent showed {9-Diamonds} {5-Diamonds} for busted flush and straight draws.

Smith Gets Short; Doubles

Posted 2012-06-07 GMT-6

We caught up with the action just as Justin Smith was getting his last 1,200 into the middle against a lone opponent preflop.

Smith: {A-Spades}{6-Diamonds}
Opponent: {K-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}

The board ran out {10-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}{6-}{2-Clubs}{A-Hearts} and Smith doubled up with two-pair.
