Gathy Goes All In

Posted 2012-06-12 GMT-7 • Level 29: 40,000-80,000, 10,000 ante

Both Michael Gathy and Jamie Armstrong put 210,000 in the pot preflop. The flop came {10-Clubs} {4-Clubs} {5-Clubs} and Armstrong check-called 225,000. The {J-Spades} came on the turn and Armstrong check-called a second time, this time to the tune of 325,000. The river saw the {9-Hearts} fall, Armstrong checked and Gathy moved all in for around 1,000,000.

Armstrong folded and they moved on to the next hand.

Not A Whole Lot of Action

Posted 2012-06-12 GMT-7 • Level 29: 40,000-80,000, 10,000 ante

Action has slowed since John Esposito's elimination. We've seen a few flops and three-bets but no significant hands.

John Esposito Eliminated in 4th Place ($139,457)

John Esposito - 4th place
John Esposito - 4th place

Action folded around to Jamie Armstrong in the small blind who took a look at John Esposito's stack in the big blind and moved all in. After a minute of silence Esposito convinced himself he had the best of it and made the call.

Armstrong: {A-Spades}{8-Diamonds}
Esposito: {A-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}

Unfortunately Esposito was wrong in his assessment and was all in and behind. A {6-Spades}{8-Hearts}{q-Spades} flop appeared Armstrong furthered his lead. A {5-Clubs} on the turn and a {k-Diamonds} on the river sealed the deal and Esposito was sent packing.

Three and Four Betting

Posted 2012-06-12 GMT-7 • Level 28: 30,000-60,000, 10,000 ante

Since returning from break we've seen a lot of preflop three-bets and four-bets that are enough to take down the pot. It's just a matter of time before we see some fireworks.

Vaillancourt Won't Go Away

Posted 2012-06-12 GMT-7

Jamie Armstrong opened for 120,000 and action folded around to Vaillancourt who moved all in for around 900,000. After a few seconds of thinking Armstrong made the call and Vaillancourt was at risk.

Vaillancourt: {K-Hearts}{Q-Clubs}
Armstrong: {A-Spades}{9-Hearts}

A {7-Clubs}{4-Clubs}{5-Diamonds} flop fell out of the deck and it appeared that Vaillancourt was out of lifelines. A {Q-Hearts} on the turn though disproved that theory and Vaillancourt shot up to the lead. A {5-Hearts} on the turn secured Vaillancourt's double up.

Armstrong Applies the Pressure

Posted 2012-06-12 GMT-7 • Level 28: 30,000-60,000, 10,000 ante

Michael Gathy opened for 125,000 and Jamie Armstrong made it 275,000 from the small blind. The flop came {Q-Clubs} {A-Diamonds} {K-Clubs}, Armstrong bet 300,000 and Gathy called. The turn came {J-Hearts} and both players checked. The river came {3-Spades}, Armstrong bet 450,000 and Gathy folded after a long tank.

Big Slick No Good?

Posted 2012-06-12 GMT-7

Noah Vaillancourt started this hand out by opening for 120,000. Jamie Armstrong on the button called, and Michael Gathy in the big blind also came along for the ride.

A {3-Clubs}{k-Spades}{Q-Spades} flop saw Gathy check, and Vaillancourt bet out 190,000. When action was on Armstrong he raised to 450,000. Gathy folded and Vaillancourt took a few moments before making the call.

A {4-Clubs} on the turn had Vaillancourt check and Armstrong fire off 575,000. After a few more moments of contemplation Vaillancourt completed the call. A {8-Hearts} on the river again lead to a Vaillancourt check, and a bet from Armstrong; this time an all in bet. Vaillancourt took a few minutes off the clock thinking his best possible action. He seemed quite disgruntled and in the end threw his cards away face up, {A-}{k-}.
