Second Pair For Vilandos

Posted 2012-07-01 GMT-6

Peter Vilandos raised to 300,000 on the button and Kyle Julius made the call. The action checked through to the turn on a board of {A-Hearts} {9-Clubs} {5-Spades} {J-Clubs} and Julius check-called a 300,000 Vilandos bet. That was the end of the betting action as the {2-Clubs} was checked through on the river and Vilandos took down the pot with {Q-Spades} {J-Hearts} for 2nd pair.

Dan Smith Eliminated in 3rd Place ($368,943)

Dan Smith - 3rd
Dan Smith - 3rd

A very disappointed Dan Smith has just bolted out of the Amazon Room after being eliminated in 3rd place. He came into the three way action, not only with the chip lead, but as one of the most in form players in world poker. This is how his cruel exit transpired.

Dan Smith raised to 250,000 on the button, Peter Vilandos three-bet to 720,000, Smith moved all-in for about 2,950,000 and Vilandos called.

Vilandos {A-Clubs} {10-Hearts}
Smith {A-Spades} {K-Spades}

It was Smith at risk of elimination, but he had Vilandos crushed. The flop was {8-Clubs} {6-Hearts} {3-Clubs} and Smith was still in a commanding lead. Then disaster and joy struck on the turn when the {10-Spades} sent Smith into despair and Vilandos into ecstasy. The {6-Diamonds} rounded things off and Smith had been beaten.

So Vilandos and Julius are heads up. Will Kyle Julius win his first ever World Series of Poker (WSOP) bracelet or will Vilandos take home his third?

The Smith Slide Continues

Posted 2012-07-01 GMT-6

It has not been a very happy start for the man in form - Dan Smith. He came into the three-handed action as the chip leader but currently props up that board like Atlas himself.

Smith raised to 250,000 from the small blind and Kyle Julius made the call. The action checked through to the turn on a board of {A-Spades} {9-Spades} {9-Hearts} {6-Spades} and Smith bet 325,000; Julius called. The river card was the {7-Diamonds} and Smith moved 425,000 across the line and waited for a Julius reaction. He didn't have to wait long before the dealer was heard saying, "1.1 million." Smith looked dejected. He composed himself, thought for a while and folded his hand.

Some Momentum For Julius

It was a small pot, but the most important thing, was the momentum. Kyle Julius raised from the button and found a willing participant in the form of Dan Smith (BB). The flop was {A-Diamonds} {10-Spades} {7-Hearts} and Smith check-folded to a 225,000 Julius c-bet and he took down another pot.

The flop was {7-Hearts} {4-Clubs} {3-Clubs} and Vilandos called a 225,000 Julius c-bet. Onto the turn {3-Hearts} and it got a little intense. Julius checked, Vilandos bet 500,000, Julius moved all-in and Vilandos surrendered his hand.

Flopped Set of Treys For Vilandos

Posted 2012-07-01 GMT-6

Dan Smith raised to 250,000 on the button and Peter Vilandos defended his big blind. The flop was a low and connected looking {6-Clubs} {5-Clubs} {3-Spades} and Vilandos check-called a 300,000 Smith bet. The turn {2-Clubs} was checked through and the action restarted on the river. It was the {A-Clubs} and another check-call, this time for 675,000 and Vilandos was good with a flopped set of treys that turned into a baby flush ({3-Hearts} {3-Clubs}). Smith showed down {Q-Diamonds} {10-Hearts}.

Vilandos continues his great start to this three-way action.
