Jason Mercier opened to 40,000 from under the gun, and Gus Hansen called in the cutoff seat. The flop fell {3-Hearts}{5-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}, and Mercier led for 52,000. Hansen called.

Both players checked on the turn ({j-Diamonds}), and the river ({q-Spades}), and Mercier rolled over {k-Hearts}{9-Hearts} for a pair of nines.

"I assumed I was good when you checked behind," Mercier announced.

"That's a great assumption," Hansen told him. "Top notch."

"Yeah," Bertrand "ElkY" Grospellier added. "Nice read, Jason."
