With a public holiday in Melbourne today, we were expecting a big turnout for the Monday morning mayhem but it appears that many preferred a good sleep in, or perhaps a road trip offline, rather than endure the many hours of pain, tilt and merciless frustration that is the norm when one plays a full Monday schedule of tournaments.

February was highlighted by a change at the top of the Australian rankings, as well as a rash of strong performances from some of the bigger names in Australian online poker. For a few of them it could not have come at a better time. The big individual scores came from Jarrod “Jaggy42” Wilson, James “Andy_McLEOD” Obst and Hugh “Jackovich” Cohen. All these players earned around $58,000 in their respective high-earning tournaments for the month.

I was recently playing a HORSE sit-n-go on Full Tilt Poker and had an interesting situation in a Stud-8 hand. I started the hand with 3-4-6 with only a 7 and a 2 showing around the table for straight outs. Two other sixes were showing and they both called the deuce bring-in. I also just called as I wanted to see how fourth street developed.

Auckland’s SKYCITY Casino have announced an exciting new fixture to its already popular poker calendar. With the Joe Hachem Deep Stack Series proving so popular at Melbourne’s Crown Casino, Auckland have followed suit with the inaugural Lee Nelson Deep Stack Series. Christchurch Casino has confirmed that 2009 Aussie Millions Champion, Stewart Scott, will be heading across the Tasman to participate in the New Zealand Poker Championships (NZPC). Scott says he’s looking forward to touching down on kiwi turf for his second shot at the New Zealand Poker Championships title. “The NZPC is a favourite event of mine. I am really excited to be coming back this year and catching up with all the people who enjoy the tournament as much as me”, commented Scott.

Thanks to Bet247 we’re back with another lock of the week! So my last lock of the week got the cash, let’s see if we can go streaking with another Ice Hockey underdog. Wednesday morning will see the Tampa Bay Lightning (25-21-11) host the Vancouver Canucks (35-20-2). Both teams have been on the up of late with the Canucks winning eight of their last ten, while Tampa Bay have claimed seven wins in their last ten.

As promised on the PokerNetwork Sports Betting Show, I've gone and found an Ice Hockey pick for the NHL action on Sunday morning (Australian time). I'm going to take one of the worst teams in the NHL, as they play host to the best team in hockey. The play I like may sound a little whacky, but there are reasons for it. I'm going to be on the Carolina Hurricanes (18-28-7) tomorrow against the Chicago Blackhawks (37-13-4). This may seem like suicide until you look a little deeper.
