2008 Victorian Poker Championships Day 10: Nassif Claims 6-Max Trophy; "Final Table" Lee Wins Ladies Event

Day 10 of the 2008 Victorian Poker Championships saw the start of Event #9: $1,100 No Limit Holdem 6 Handed. 175 entrants began today including the likes of Lee Nelson, James Broom, Paul “The Voice” Khoury, Jay “Seabeast” Kinkade, Zhi Hong Ma and Joe Hachem, as well as a contingent of Poker Network Forum regulars in Ali “KH4LIL” Khalil, Michael “TheSharkBoy” Palti and Scott “Punty” Smith.
The 175 entrants would eventually play down to one as it would be Marwan Nassif winning the tournament and taking home the first prize of $43,750. On the final hand Jimmy Siu moved all-in with {Jc}{Tc} on a board of {Qs}{Qd}{2c}{8c} and was called by Nassif holding {Qc}{Js}. The river was the {3s} and Nassif would be crowned as the Event #9: $1,100 No Limit Holdem 6 Handed Champion.
The final table results were as follows:
1st – Marwan Nassif  $43,750
2nd – Jimmy Siu  $31,500
3rd – Brendan Edmonds  $21,000
4th - Helen Davis  $15,750
5th – Trung Tran  $12,250
6th – Gareth Edwards  $8,750
Today also saw the $100 Ladies Night No Limit Holdem event which attracted 90 participants including two males who felt like joining in on the fun. Jeanie Hachem, Nichole Thwaites, Lauren Phillips, Helena Wong and Kim Peart were all in the field but it would be Anne Lee, the wife of Lee “Final Table” Nelson, who would prevail.
With Nelson by her side on the reail, Lee moved all in with {Jd}{Jh} and was called by Tamara Volkoff holding {Qh}{4h}. The board ran out {Tc}{6c}{5c}{6s}{6d} and Lee would take home the $1,800 first prize and a trophy which was as close to her heart as the many that Nelson had one previously.
