2010 New Zealand Poker Open is Underway!

Posted at 07:12 2010-06-04

Although the majority of the poker world may be flocking to Las Vegas for the WSOP, that doesn’t mean that for there’s no action for the rest of us – and the good news is that our neighbours across the Tasman are preparing for the second annual SKYCITY New Zealand Poker Open in Auckland.

With satellite and preliminary events currently underway, the SKYCITY Auckland Casino will play host to the best Kiwi poker talent over the next week, offering a range of tournaments catering to all tastes and budgets, culminating the $1,100 SKYCITY New Zealand Poker Open No Limit Hold’em Main Event, which is offering a NZD $50,000 guaranteed prize pool running over the Queen’s Birthday weekend. Seats are sure to sell fast, as the tournament is capped at 180 players and satellites are running daily.

“I am greatly looking forward to the tournament,” said SKCITY Ambassador and 2006 Aussie Millions Main Event champion, Lee ‘Final Table’ Nelson. “SKYCITY Auckland organises fantastic tournaments that cater to players both international and domestic, providing a poker experience proving they have earned the title of New Zealand’s Home of Poker.”
