A Good Friday for Jabba at JHDSS!

Posted at 11:50 2010-04-03

Although yesterday may have been a public holiday and Holy day in the Christian calendar, it still didn’t deter poker players making their pilgrimage down to the Crown Poker Room for Day 1b of the Joe Hachem Deep Stack Main Event.

Michael Guzzardi, Daniel Neilson, Julian Cohen and Peter Aristidou all fronted up for their second time, but after falling throughout the day they will be forced to fire a third barrel today. Benn ‘risk2Dupside’ Skender, Vincent Wan, Patrick Fletcher, Ben Savage, Andrew Demetriou, Ali Khalil, Tim Horan and Leo Boxell were just a handful of the 253 starters that were unable to bag their chips at the day’s end.

Of the unconfirmed 85 that snuck through, on top is James ‘Jabba’ Broom who used his relentless aggression mixed with a bit of luck to amass a 210,000 chips stack. Trailing Broom is American Eric Richards (205,500), William Conner (169,500) and Jason Bourne (135,700).

Many of the local and interstate tournament stalwarts are still about with Andrew 'Adgee' Jeffreys (80,400), Nobbi Tanaka (71,600), Nik ‘Button-Popping’ Lackovic (31,200) and Steve Topakas (26,900) all still in contention.

With Day 1c expecting an even greater turnout, make sure to stay tuned to PokerNetwork for all the live coverage of the Joe Hachem Deep Stack Main Event from the Crown Poker Room.
