Day 2 of the ANZPT Perth Main Event saw 124 players return to the Burswood Poker Room to play another seven levels and get as close to the cash as possible. It was a day full of action and excitement as the cream rose to the top. From the frantic early eliminations to the huge three-way triple up of overnight chip leader Ricky Kroesen, to the remarkable comeback of Tony Hachem and finally the rise and rise of young gun Aaron Lim – it was a day to remember.
Local talent Aaron Lim was clearly the talking point of the day, as he ran one of the biggest bluffs we’ve seen in recent times before capturing the biggest pot of the tournament in the dying minutes of play when his nut flush was paid off in full. Lim will carry 538,700 into day three of play for a massive chip lead over his nearest rival.
Ricky Kroesen is next best with 310,300, after a huge three-way all in saw his pocket queens hold against both ace-king and ace-ten to maintain his place with the chip leaders.
Others still in contention include Aussie Millions champ David Gorr, 2007 APPT Sydney winner Grant Levy, local hope Vesko Zmukic, young gun Jeff Rossiter, Kiwi Richard Lancaster and the defending champ Tony Hachem.
It was a great day on the felt for the Team PokerStars Pro as he fought back from the short stack after flopping the nut flush in a three-way all in, followed by a huge win with pocket jacks against ace-king. Hachem now had a top ten chip stack with 197,100 and will tough to stop from reaching yet another ANZPT cash.
