ANZPT Auckland Day 1b: 32 Survive with Anesone Bragouits Leading

Posted at 20:10 2013-11-21 by Tim Duckworth

With the Australia New Zealand Poker Tour (ANZPT) Auckland Main Event opening on Thursday with 22 players surviving from the 44 starters, Friday saw Day 1b players head to the SKYCITY Auckland Casino poker room for their chance in capturing ANZPT Auckland glory.

Pravin Harji and Miroslav Sheynin – who took 3rd and 6th respectively in last year’s ANZPT Auckland Main Event – led the notables that included hometown heroes Graeme “Kiwi G” Putt, Koray Turker, Cole Swannack, David Yan, as well as seasoned tournament veteran Mishel Anunu and ANZPT Queenstown Champion Jono Bredin.

Both Harji and Sheynin got off to good starts with Sheynin rivering the nut straight holding {Q-Hearts}{9-Clubs} on a {7-Clubs}{J-Spades}{10-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}{8-Spades} board against two players – one of which would be eliminated – to see his starting stack nearly triple. Turker and APPT Melbourne Accumulator Champion Daniel Levy saw their stacks balloon up the chip leaderboard as they both took the chip leader title off each other several times.

As play began closing in on the final level notables Bredin, Anunu, Yan and Putt would be sent to the rail along with one-time chip leader Sheynin before play ended with just 32 remaining of the 66 entrants as Anesone Bragouits claimed the title of chip leader after a late surge to see him end with 106,600.
