ANZPT Queenstown Satellites Underway at PokerStars

With the Sydney leg of the PokerStars ANZPT rapidly approaching, it is time to start thinking (and qualifying) for the next stop on the tour.
Qualifiers are already underway for the ANZPT Queenstown to be held at SKYCITY Casino in the beautiful Queenstown, New Zealand from July 21-25, 2009.
Queenstown in the Otago region of New Zealand is a picturesque town built at the edge of Lake Wakatipu.
In many respects Queenstown looks like a relaxing hamlet fused perfectly with the beautiful natural surrounds. However with the plethora of mountains, gorges, lakes and rivers surrounding the town it is a haven for action sports and has fast gained the reputation of “New Zealand’s Adventure Capital”.
Some of the adrenalin pumping activities that you can try while visiting Queenstown include bungee jumping, skiing, snowboarding, heli-skiing, and jet boating. If it is natural beauty you are after, there are daily flights over one the most beautiful gorges in the world, Milford Sound, as well as a cable car trip, and many beautiful nature trails and nature activities.
Of course an ANZPT trip wouldn’t be complete without logging some time at the tables, and hopefully earning some all important ANZPT tour points.
Right now on PokerStars you can win satellites offering a US$2,950 prize package, including main event buy-in, luxurious hotel accommodation and US$750 of spending money. With the higher travel costs involved to NZ, PokerStars have made the decision to only run full package satellites to Queenstown, and not the seat only versions that were available as an alternative option for both the Adelaide and Sydney legs.
A trip to New Zealand’s adventure capital would not be complete without getting to sample the local delights. PokerStars are including your choice of either a Queenstown and Environs Tour or a Ski Tour with each satellite package won on PokerStars.
ANZPT tournament director Danny McDonagh could not have put it better when he said, “ANZPT Queenstown is going to be more than just a poker tournament but also the chance to see the great sights around Queenstown including Milford Sound or go skiing/snowboarding to your hearts content!”
Real money qualifiers start from as little as $2, while you can also qualify using FPPs with 500 Frequent Player Points getting you into a satellite. With a satellite out there to suit every budget there is simply no excuse for not trying to qualify for what is sure to be a fantastic poker event, set against a winter wonderland.
