ANZPT Season 6 to open at ANZPT Auckland

The Australia New Zealand Poker Tour (ANZPT) is set to begin its sixth season in just a few days with the ANZPT Auckland event kicking off another expected successful season of poker in the Asia-Pacific region.

The first three stops of ANZPT Season 6 were announced in July, and although no more stops have been announced as yet, many Australian and New Zealand poker players are excited to open the ANZPT in New Zealand as it has played host to some of the more exciting stops for players, railbirds and media members over the past five years.

Although ANZPT Queenstown has been on the ANZPT since its conception, ANZPT Auckland debuted last season in November with 207 players creating a NZ$414,000 prizepool which saw Geoff Smith top the field to capture the NZ$80,502 first prize. Early talks are that this season’s event may eclipse should see roughly the same numbers with potential to eclipse the 207-player mark set last year.

The ANZPT Auckland festival will be running from November 16th – 24th at SKYCITY Auckland Casino with plenty of poker being had for players with varying bankroll amounts. The series opens with a No Limit Hold’em Mix Match which starts 10-handed before playing down to 6-handed, while there is also a Pot Limit Omaha tournament for the four-card specialists. Two No Limit Hold’em Turbo tournaments sit in the middle of the series before ANZPT Auckland concludes with a Ladies, Teams and Deepstack event.

For those players looking for a cheap way to enter the NZ$2,200 Main Event, there are satellites running from November 16th through to the night of November 21st – Day 1b of the Main Event – with buy-ins ranging from NZ$30 rebuys to NZ$460 Mega Satellites.
