Posted at 09:35 2013-01-03 by Matthew Pitt

In just over two weeks’ time, the eagerly anticipated 2013 Aussie Millions festival will begin at the Crown Casino, Melbourne. Some of the best poker players from around the world will make the trip “Down Under” for what should be the biggest and best Aussie Millions yet.

The opening event kicks off at precisely 18:15 on Thursday 17 January with the $1,100 No Limit Hold’em tournament. Played over three starting flights – and to a Repechage structure – the first event of the 2013 Aussie Millions should attract hundreds of players and create a massive prize pool.

Following on from the opening event will be 26 events; the final tournament taking place on Sunday 3 February. Some of the highlights of the 2013 Aussie Millions include the 6th Annual Joe Hachem and Shane Warne Charity Poker Tournament, a $5,000 No Limit Hold’em Six-Max event; the $25,000 challenge; the $100,000 challenge; the $250,000 Challenge and of course, the $10,600 Aussie Millions Main Event.

PokerNetwork will be bringing you the very best in live updates from the $25,000; $100,000; $250,000 challenges and the Main Event.

Last year’s Aussie Millions Main Event attracted 659 players to the Crown Poker felt, but only one of them left the casino a champion. Oliver Speidel defeated Kenneth Wong heads-up to get his hands on the coveted trophy and the massive $1,600,000 first place prize on offer.

Other seven-figure scores went to “King” Dan Smith ($1,012,000) for winning the $100,000 challenge and the legendary Phil Ivey ($2,000,000) who won the $250,000 Challenge. Who will become a poker millionaire in Australia this time around?

If you want to play in the Aussie Millions main event but find the $10,600 is outside the constraints of your bankroll then you still have some time left in which to satellite your way into the tournament. Online poker sites such as PokerStars and PartyPoker still have satellites running, but if live poker is your thing you should look no further than the Crown Poker room at the Crown Casino, Melbourne. They will be running satellites all the way up to the start of the 2013 Aussie Millions, check out their satellite schedule here.
