We are rapidly closing in on the halfway point of the 2012 World Series of Poker and it has been a case of close but no cigar for Aussie players over in Sin City. We have had a total of five cashes, one final table and have won a total of US$251,953 but we want more!
Our biggest cash so far came from Warwick Mirzkinian who busted out of Event #6, the $5,000 No Limit Hold'em Mixed Max event, in third place to bag himself $162,443. This was Mirzikinian's largest score of his career so far, beating his previous best of $52,772 by almost three times! A truly fantastic result, especially when you consider the wealth of talent on show.
The next largest score of the series from an Australian point of view was Julian Powell who came fourth in the third event of the series of $73,655. Like Mirzikinian this was his largest score and his first significant haul since march 2009. Hopfully we will see more of Powell before the series is out.
The other three players to make it to the money places are Christopher Moutzouris who came 172nd in Event #2 for $2,893; Justin Shelton and his 187th place finish in Event #9 for $4,043 and more recently Kelvin Beattie finished 50th in Event #19 for a score of $8,919.
