Sunday’s are traditionally the biggest online poker tournament day of the week. Sunday’s are the day that the prize pools swell and dreams are made and lost. This Sunday was a great day for a number of Australian poker players who had deep runs in PokerStars’ so-called Sunday Majors.

The day had already got off to a decent start thanks to Melbourne’s “steaksaucy” having a deep run in the $109 buy-in Sunday Kickoff — his 18th place finish from a field of 1,615 bagged him $726.75 – when two Australian players decided to dominate the $109+R Sunday Rebuy.

This week’s Sunday Rebuy had a $327,500.00 prize pool which attracted some of the game’s biggest star to it, like moths to a flame. Jonathan “MONSTER_DONG” Karamalikis busted in 65th place and “Buffett1986” went even deeper, finishing in 22nd for just shy of $1,500. But the biggest prizes were reserved for the eventual champion and runner-up, both of whom call Australia home!

Michael “WaGe N Warz” Federsen crashed out in second place for a score of $43,885.00 and his fellow Aussie, “bluesky30” took down the tournament for an wallet-bursting $60,587.50. Amazing scores, gentlemen.

Elsewhere, adopted Australian Jim “Mr_BigQueso” Collopy came close to another massive win when he finished 12th in The Bigger $109. In the same tournament, Steven “StevoL” Leonard reached the final table before busting in 8th place for a shade under $4,400.

Liam “moffo47” Moffett will be waking up wondering about what could have been after coming so close to winning the Sunday Million! Moffett made it all the way to 17th out of 7,274 starters for a $4,073.44 score when there was over $218,000 up top. A valiant effort and one Moffett can certainly be proud of.

Last but certainly not least, for this little round-up at least, “berkyy” helped himself to the second largest score of the week for Australian player when he finished second in the Sunday 500 for $57,330.00. Congratulations!
