Aussies Online: Christmas Cheer for "sassychilli" and "ibluffheaps"

Posted at 11:51 2010-12-28

It’s that time of year. Stomachs full of so much holiday food that a two week fast is on the agenda, lest you consume leftover ham and turkey until February. Another tie, pair of socks or boxers to add to a growing collection, in lieu of the latest iPhone you so desperately desired. There is scrunched up wrapping paper lying all over the floor, while you try to remember the names of distant relatives. There is no doubt that Christmas is a time for joy, but it is also a time for poker.

Christmas is a time for giving, but it is also, of course, a time for taking. Some players will know all too well the art of giving, while some have managed to master the art of taking to such a degree that soon the Grinch will be asking Aussie online poker players for a cash loan.

Among the biggest winners in the last week and whose Christmas will be all the more enjoyable include sassychilli and Kris ‘ibluffheaps’ Cunz.

Cunz managed to take down a nice score just a few days before Christmas, ensuring joyous times this holiday season. It was in the $100,000 guarantee rebuy event on Full Tilt Poker that Cunz would bring home the tinsel, with first place good for $31,892.

With a public holiday and the rush of the Christmas weekend over, it was back to business as usual for the Sunday majors yesterday, with a local player by the name of sassychilli taking a respectable third in the PokerStars Sunday 500for a score of $49,875, a nice way to see out the holiday season and beef up the bankroll before 2011.

Some other results from yesterday included a couple of deep runs for Aussies in the Sunday Million on PokerStars, with kuller finishing 10th for a $9,304 score, while martingale took 14th, good for $6,889.

It was Christmas day in the United States when Nobbi ‘nobbit’ Tanaka found himself with a victory and $12,348 richer. The score came in the $55 Nightly Seventy Grand on PokerStars, with the overlay featured in the tournament a Christmas present of sorts to those who decided to play.

Those who have been treated to a more joyous Christmas season include dasve79811, with scores in the PokerStars $109 6-Max rebuy and the $215 2x Chance Turbo event for $8,250 and $9,672 respectively. It was two final tables on Full Tilt Poker for bazooka87 that saw a combined $18,258 shipped. A first in the $11 Rebuy event with $55,000 guaranteed on PokerStars saw fredhead bring home a decent $9,498, while a third in the PokerStars Nightly 70K was good for $7,639, for mathawker.

Some of the biggest winners this week were those who managed to secure a Aussie Millions package, with the win potentially worth millions come January 2011. With satellites to the major event in full swing it was Demonrob, MISHELA and play6969 who each took home an Aussie Millions package worth $12,592 on PokerStars. Over on Full Tilt Poker departure, hitthehole and reece hump saw a $16,000 Aussie Millions package coming there way. Check out the Aussie Millions satellites page for the best way to win your way to Australia’s biggest tournament in January.

With Christmas over and the last Monday morning grind of 2010 in the bag, PokerNetwork would like to wish everyone a happy and safe holiday season and of course the best of luck at the tables.
