Aussies Online: Monday Morning Frenzy as Risk is Too Good
Posted at 21:17 2011-10-11
It was a massive Monday morning for local grinders from all around the country as several big results were posted from Aussies, including Benn 'Risk2Dupside' Skender, Minh 'Miksta' Nguyen and a big score from unkown Australian, 'gtzy69'
The Sunday Warm-Up on PokerStars is exactly as it sounds, a practice tournament of sorts to get players ready for the massive grind which is ahead of them. As one of the earliest of the weekly major tournamants, players are committed to a very early start if they want a piece of the $500,000 guaranteed prize pool.
Yesterday saw 3,519 players dish out the $215 entry fee to take their shot at poker glory, one of those players was unkown Aussie going by the screen name of gtzy69. After ten hours of gruelling grinding action, all but one player stood in the Aussies way and it was 'LevotonKala' from Finland. A gallant heads-up effort would see gtzy69 fall in second place for an impressive $82,344 score and what would become the biggest tournament score for a local player this week.
Sometimes it seems that all the scores are coming on PokerStars, but Ben 'Risk2Dupside' Skender ensured that we all took notice over on the iPoker Network.
The biggest weekly tournament on Titan Poker is the $200,000 Sunday Guranteed event and it often struggles to gather enough players to cover the guarantee. When 915 players took to the virtual felt yesterday morning there was $20,000 in juicy overlay cash and it would be Skender who would take the lion's share of all that added value. The $42,000 score for Skender would add to his already impressive resume while also giving him his first victory in a 'Sunday Major'.
It wasnt only gtzy69 who would be making his screen name known, with another unrecognisable name making a big score yesterday. Australia's 'googiemona' weaved his way through a massive 5,334-player field to take a home a win in the PokerStars Bigger $55, receiving $33,870.
The busy Monday morning continued throughout Australia, as Minh 'Miksta' Nguyen joined the impressive stable of players who kept bringing the scores to our shores. The event was the $109 Sunday Rebuy and a deep run and eventual 5th place finish would be good for $16,957 to tip his lifetime online scores into the six-figure territory.
There were plenty of scores throughout the week in the lead up to yesterday morning, wth Mick 'WaGe N WaRz' Faderson managing a 1st place in an $11 Rebuy event late in the week. The score was worth $12,333 and came a few days after Ben 'bennybunny18' Richardson took down the same event for $12,714.
If you want to see big scores like these on your poker resume, why not download PokerStars or download Titan Poker and you could see massive amounts of cash coming your way just like gtzy69 and Risk2Dupside and don't forget to return to PokerNetwork for all the latest in online poker news!
