Australian's everywhere rose early on the public holiday Monday for two reasons. One being to watch the Socceroos get soul crushed by Germany, the other being to grind out the majors and make some bank. While hoping for a bit better luck than our national soccer team, a lot of our big name players copped a similar fate.
It was a quiet week for the online guys, with players either taking the week off, in transit or running bad. Whatever the case they probably still looked good in comparison with the Socceroos.
While Tim Cahill was busy seeing that horrible red card, all Benn “risk2Dupside” Skender could see was the green. Skender’s persistence paid as he worked his way into contention in Full Tilt Poker’s $750,000 guaranteed. But in a swift reminder of what these tournament guys go through on a weekly basis Skender got unlucky in a flip to be first off the final table in ninth. Still he’d claim a handy $10,050 for his efforts.
While the results have been reasonably slow in coming through this week, “ibluffheaps” grabbed $9,000 with his win in the PokerStars $109 six max. Junny “Orororo” So jumped up for an $8,542 win in Full Tilt Poker’s $25,000 Guaranteed Rebuy.
The online majors may be slow over the next few weeks as players head to Las Vegas to play in the World Series of Poker and partake in the various festivities around that event. Still many of our star players are under 21, and so they will be still grinding out their earnings online.
