Big One For One Drop: Final Table Set

Posted at 01:22 2012-07-04 by Matthew Pitt

The largest buy-in poker tournament of all time, the $1,000,000 Big One for One Drop is just seven eliminations from being completed after the 37 player who made it through Day 1 were whittled down to the eight-handed final table during Day 2. When play resumes at 12:00 Las Vegas time, it will be Antonio "The Magician" Esfandiari who is the man everyone needs to catch if they are to walk away with the massive $18,346,673 first place prize.

Esfandiari will start the day armed with 39,925,000 chips and with blinds starting at 150,000/300,000/50,000a he has plenty of room to manoeuvre. Esfandiari is an extremely talented poker player, one with two World Poker Tour titles and one World Series of Poker bracelet to his name. At time of writing he has around $5,000,000 in live tournament cashes but this could increase to $23,000,000 by the time this tournament is done and dusted.

Hot on the heels of Esfandiari is the British pro Sam Trickett with 37,000,000 chips. You may remember Trickett had an absolute ball in Australia at the 2011 Aussie Millions where he won the A$100,000 buy-in event for a cool AUD$1,525,000 and then followed that up with a runner-up finish in the AUD$250,000 buy-in Super High Roller for a further AUD$1,400,000. Can Trickett follow these results up on the every biggest stage in world poker?

Whilst the two players mentioned are the big chip leaders their one-two finish is far from a done deal because still in with a shout of glory in this event are the likes of Brian Rast, Bobby Baldwin and the 12-time WSOP bracelet winner Phil Hellmuth. And let us not forget the lesser known Richard Yong and David Einhorn who have both reached the final table on merit. Einhorn has actually pledged his entire winnings to charity, even if he wins the huge first place prize!

As with all of the WSOP events this year, PokerNetwork has all the live coverage you can handle. Head over to the Big One for One Drop Live Updates pages to read about all the action as it happens in this prestigious event.
