The eagerly anticipated PokerStars Macau Poker Cup Championship (MPCC) is in full swing ith the first two events completed and written into the history books. Check those records and you will find the names of David Steicke and Hazel Yuen Shan as the winners of Event #1 and Event #2 respectively.
The opening event was the HK$8,600 No Limit Hold'em tournament that carried a HKD$1,000,000 guarantee. The guarantee was completely demolished as 161 players created a prize pool of HKD$1,249,360 that was eventually shared out among the top 19 finishers; a min-cash being worth HKD$15,600.
Jennette Tan was the first player to pick up some prize money and she was followed to the rail – via the cashiers cage – by the likes of Raiden Kan, Britain's Stephen Nathan and Australia's Craig Cockburn who was also the man to burst the final table bubble.
Everyone at the ten-handed final table had locked up at least HKD$31,460 but each of the ten final table members had at least one eye on the HKD$306,100 first place prize. That impressive amount is now in the possession of Steicke after he eventually defeated the Czech Republic's Roman Babeka heads-up to be crowned Event #1's champion.

Event #2 was the HKD$150,000 No Limit Hold'em Deepstack event, a tournament won by Hazel Yuen Chui. By the time registration had come to an end there were 179 players inside the Grand Waldo Hotel, who between them created a prize pool of HKD$234,400.
The lion's share of the prize pool – or should that be the lioness' share – went to Chui who defeated Fu Huang heads-up to claim the HKD$57,400 for herself. Congratulations to Chui and the other 21 players who made it into the money places.
