2. Skycity Adelaide $28,000 WSOP Satellite Results
Skycity Adelaide’s WSOP satellite last weekend attracted a strong interstate contingent, including a number of ‘old school’ players who returned to what was the centre of Australian poker through the late eighties and nineties. Day 1 was the semi finals and the last chance to qualify for the final. Buyin was $180 with one $120 rebuy allowed. Over eighty players competed and five won through to the final, with another five receiving cash payouts.
The final kicked off on Sunday morning with a 84 players – a mix of qualifiers and those who had coughed up $1100 to enter. About four hours in and it was down to the final table, chip leaders were Stewart Scott (168,000), Jarrod Wilson (143,000) and Pheap Chea (104,000). The winner will be announced in an official presentation with Joe Hachem on Thursday.
There was plenty of cash game action on the side as players busted out, PNW’s own Maurie the Master captured all the action from the weekend so if you’re after a touch of nostalgia, visit the Team PNW does Adelaide thread on the PokerNetwork noticeboard.
3. Skycity Auckland prepares for busy June

The only way left to qualify is through the weekend satellite tournaments, which cost $60 to enter, with 60 players maximum allowed. If you’re in the area, get down there and check it out.
4. Two More Aussies to head to the WSOP for free with Team PokerNews

9. The PokerNetwork Bad Beat Award
This edition’s bad beat was dealt out to Crown's own Danny McDonagh who was unfortunately sitting at the same table as PokerNetwork's Gaz in Adelaide on the weekend. The game was 2/4 NL and was apparantly very loose. Player under the gun moves all in for around $250. Danny is next to act and quickly calls all in. Two more players call (one of them all-in), and Gaz in the big blind says, "Meh, value" and makes the call all-in for around $220. With 4 of 5 players all in, it's time to deal out the board. Player UTG has JJ, Danny has the pocket rockets, another has 77, another KJ and Gaz has 95o. The flop brings a 9 and Gaz has a chance to catchup. Jonno comes over from the 10/20 and calls for a 5 on the turn (forgetting that it is Danny with the Aces). Well, Jonno was right and the 5 spikes on the turn. Who says 95o isn't a good hand?
