The Full Tilt Online Poker Series XXII passed the mid point Sunday and two more champions were rewarded with gold jerseys. Twenty of the 38 events on the schedule were completed through Sunday, and there's still plenty of action still to come this week. The series wraps up with the $640 buy-in Main Event on Sunday, March 31.
More than $1.3 million in prize money was handed out across Sunday's two FTOPS events and several notables claimed a share of that cash. The biggest earner was Team PokerStars Pro Jose Ignacio "thekillerxxx" Barbero, better known as "Nacho," who took down Event #20 for $166,222. Finishing runner-up in that event, British poker pro Mathew "matfrankland" Frankland claimed $116,805 for his 12 hours of work. Also reaching the final table were Ben "SPEKTAH" LaBlond, Pratyush "Shane Gamble" Buddiga, Antoine “Mpiyav” Labat and Matt "NoBadBeatsPlz" Kay, all of whom collected five-figure paydays.
Also receiving a gold jersey on Sunday, Brandon "CompleteDonk" Barnes celebrated his birthday by winning Event #19. The 20-year-old outlasted more than 4,800 players to win the $120 buy-in no-limit hold'em event for $85,500. Several notables made deep runs in that event but fell short of the final table, including Dan "imabigkidnow" Kelly, Chris "Big Huni" Hunichen and JC "PrtyPsux" Alvarado.
The race for the FTOPS XXII Leaderboard title is still led by "isinm2006" with 439 points. The Israel native failed to cash in either event on Sunday but retained his slight lead over Karolis "karolis666" Grybauskas (415 points). The winner of the leaderboard will receive an $11,000 package for FTOPS XXIII and a custom Full Tilt Poker avatar.
