In an exciting new concept, World Team Poker will be coming to the Golden Nugget Casino in Las Vegas this May, just days before the 2010 World Series of Poker kicks off, in a classic battle of the nations with bragging rights and hundreds of thousands of dollars in cash up for grabs!

40 of the world’s best players will compete on the felt in eight teams representing different nations in the $50,000 buy-in one-day event. Each team will comprise of five members with captains (and in some cases co-captains) already announced for each team.

The good news is that Australia is set to compete and will be very well represented as the team will be led by co-captains Jeff Lisandro and Tony G. The two will form a formidable leadership duo that will be very hard to stop! Other captains that have been announced include Phil Hellmuth (USA), Ben Roberts (England), Johnny Chan and David Chiu (China), Eli Elezra (Israel), George Kapalas (Greece), Men Nguyen (Vietnam) and Juliano Maesano (Brazil).

The tournament will be structured as a five-table shootout format, with alternating levels of Limit, Pot Limit and No Limit Texas Holdem. The event will be filmed for television and also streamed live on the web, with Kenna James in the commentary booth.

So who should join Tony G and Jeff Lisandro and represent Australia in this historic event to compete with the world’s best?  Some names which have been thrown into the ring include Argyros, Gray, Hachem, Benson, Judah, Steicke, Levy, Powell, Waggoner and even Warne, just to name a few. If you think you have what it takes to be a part of this team, or would like to nominate someone for consideration, then contact us and we’ll forward your name onto the G himself.
