The World Poker Tour has announced its return to Asian soil this December, as the first-ever WPT Korea event will take place on the island province of Jeju. The $2,700+300 buy-in WPT Korea Main Event, as well as the final table of the WPT National China event, will be held at the Ramada Plaza Hotel’s WPT Club Phoenix Poker Room. The event will run December 15-19.

"After the success of our recent event in China, we’re looking forward to attracting a strong field in Jeju as we expand the WPT brand further into Asia," said WPT President Adam Pliska. "With two final tables playing out in the same venue just days apart, we’re confident that the launch of WPT Korea will be just the beginning of more WPT events throughout the region in coming seasons."

The WPT Korea Main Event will feature two Day 1 flights with reentry. The Day 1a flight marks a historic event for the WPT, as it will be the first time in the tour’s history that it holds a live final table simultaneously at the same venue.

On December 15, the final table of WPT National China will be moved to Jeju where the event will be live streamed for the world’s viewing pleasure. The WPT National China will award over $254,000 to the champion and each player at the final table will receive a free entry into the WPT Korea Main Event.

Familiar names among the WPT family will be on site for the event, as WPT Executive Tour Director Matt Savage will oversee all aspects of the tournaments. Live stream commentary on both the WPT National China final table and the WPT Korea final table will be provided by Tony Dunst, Xuan Liu, and Lacey Jones. Dunst, who normally hosts the WPT's Raw Deal segment, recently won the WPT Caribbean in St. Maarten.

On top of the Main Event, the WPT is also hosting a two-day $50,00 Super Elite Cup high-roller event that will kick off on December 14. Each player will be allowed a single reentry. A noteworthy aspect to this event is that it has added value to both the high-roller players as well as the community. First, each player in this event will receive an entry into the WPT Korea Main Event as well as hotel accommodations. Along with that, $2,000 of each bullet fired will be donated to Incorporated Association Baknyunhwai, a volunteer organization that provides medical and living assistance to the elderly.
