The Australian poker community came to a halt early Sunday morning as they watched Jackie Glazier capture a World Series of Poker (WSOP) Europe gold bracelet after winning the €1,100 Ladies No Limit Hold’em Event for €21,850.
With Glazier being named part of the 888Poker Team during the WSOP in Las Vegas, one of her obligations saw her travel to Europe to firstly take part in the EPT London Main Event (where she finished a few spots shy of the money) before tackling the WSOP Europe schedule in Paris, France.
For the first time at WSOP Europe there would be a Ladies Event where a gold bracelet was on offer, and with it opening the series at The Resort Barrière, a highly-skilled group of females took to the felt to form a 65-player field and a €62,400 prize pool. Liv Boeree, Ashley Sleeth, Loni Harwood, Jessica Dawley, Sam Cohen and Allyn Jaffrey Shulman were just a few of those that would hit the rail on Day 1 as just eight would remain – one shy of the money – once play ceased for the day at roughly 4:00 a.m. local time.
The final day of play would kick off around dinner time and the speed of play would push into a high gear as the bubble would burst just an orbit into play when Anais Lerouge’s pair and flush draw was outdrawn on the turn by a bigger pair to leave the final seven players in the money. Gaelle Baumann would fall two hands later after losing a race holding while Sherrill Lindsey and Nathalie Odet went in quick succession next. Action stalled for a while before a short-stacked Celine Bastian was eliminated in fourth when her
was rundown by Glazier’s
. Laurie Bismuth would be next when she pushed with her
but would be in bad shape against Glazier’s
. The board ran out
to see Glazier enter heads-up play with roughly 115,000 to Maryline Valente’s 80,000.
After several hands Glazier would push her lead out to more than a two-to-one advantage before Valente would claw her way back to eventually take the lead. Following a quick break and after nearly 40 hands of heads-up play, Glazier would raise the button before Valente pushed all-in with and was instantly called by Glazier’s
. The final board would run out
to see Glazier crowned the WSOP Europe €1,100 Ladies Event Champion and the newest owner of a WSOP gold bracelet.

For Glazier it has been a whirlwind year that saw her win an event at ANZPT Sydney before cashing in the first ever WSOP Asia Pacific event. However it would be her 31st place in the WSOP Main Event for US$229,281 that would see her thrust into the limelight as she finished as the last woman standing and attracted a mass of media attention. However, with Glazier's win it not only validates all her hard work but makes those WSOP near-misses (such as the Main Event this year and a 2nd place in a US$3,000 No Limit Hold'em event last year) a distant memory as she now joins the elusive group of Australian gold bracelet winners such as Joe Hachem, Mel Judah, Gary Benson, Mark Vos and Andrew Hinrichsen.
