James Obst Joins Victory Poker!

Posted at 17:03 2010-03-31

It has taken some time, but one of Australia’s young and emerging poker stars has been snatched up and sponsored with Victory Poker signing up James ‘Andy McLEOD’ Obst!

The recently turned 20-year old from Adelaide crushed online tournaments mostly under the monikers of ‘Andy McLEOD’ and ‘TheFatFish’ after borrowing just 20 cents from a friend at the tender of age of 15. However when it was discovered that this online phenom was underage, his accounts were shut down by online poker rooms as he took an unscheduled break from the poker world. But when Obst turned 18 he returned to the virtual felt in crushing fashion to see him regain the status as one of Australia’s best tournament players with well over $1,500,000 in online tournament earnings.

For Obst his greatest victory came in the 2009 PokerStars WCOOP where he won the $3,150 Mixed Holdem event for $184,000 after defeating Steve ‘gboro780’ Gross to claim the title to more than cement his place at the top of Australia’s online poker community.

On his decision to join the Victory Poker team, Obst stated, “The decision was a no-brainer. The pros involved are all tremendous players. And just as importantly, they strike me as fun guys who I'll enjoy working with. But the most important reason for joining Team Victory is the comprehensive business model. When I heard about the people behind the scenes, I was impressed with their credentials and connections. All in all, I'm excited to discover the future of Victory Poker.”

The former prize-winning Chess champion joins a team that boosts a combined 53 titles, 445 cashes and over $28 million in earnings on the tournament circuit. A few of the nineteen members of Team Victory include Antonio Esfandiari, Lee Markholt, Paul Wasicka, Andrew ‘good2cu’ Robl, Brian ‘tsarrast’ Rast, Alec ‘traheho’ Torelli, David ‘The Maven’ Chicotsky and the recently signed Jonathan ‘FieryJustice’ Little.

So if you would like to join James ‘Andy McLEOD’ Obst on the virtual felt, then jump on Victory Poker – which makes its home on the Everleaf Poker Network – and start battling it out with him today!
