The PokerStars Asia Pacific Poker Tour (APPT) Macau festival is in full swing and one of the most eagerly anticipated tournaments on the impressive schedule is the ACOP Warm-Up, a HKD$25,000 buy-in event.
Day 1a and Day 1b have both been completed with a combined total of 358 players buying in. Of those 358 players, just 138 have made it through to the official Day 2 and these players will sit down in the Grand Waldo Hotel to play down to the nine-handed final table.
Leading them into battle is Sweden’s Johan Wengelin who finished Day 1b by bagging up 149,400 chips. The title of chip leader was almost wrenched from him, but China’s Hai Bo Chu’s chips added up to 141,100 placing him in second place.
Along with the aforementioned Wengelin and Bo Chu, there are a whole host of talented players and big names still in the field and the possibility of a star-studded final table is quite high at the moment. Starting Day 2 third in chips is Mike “Sir Watts” Watson (136,700), whilst Julian Powell’s 130,700 stack is enough to see him start the penultimate day in fifth place.
Other notable players include Jordan Westmorland (116,800), Aussie jeff Rossiter, PokerStars Team Online Randy “nanonoko” Lew (86,000), the legend that is Johnny Chan (59,400), Joseph Cheong, Tom Marchese, and the newly crowned WPT South Africa champion Dominik Nitsche. Two of Team PokerStars Pro’s ladies are also still in with a shout of the HKD$1,777,000 winner’s prize, Vivian Im and Celina Lim.
