Saturday October 7 sees the return of Wild Turkey’s Joker Poker to television screens across Australia. Wild Turkey’s Joker Poker is Australia’s first locally-produced free-to-air poker show, and the coming season brings some new changes. Self-confessed poker fan Mike Goldberg takes over the hosting duties, while Lee "Final Table" Nelson – who turned out to be one of the discoveries from the first series. Lee will be back to provide his experienced commentary and to help new viewers at home understand the game. The new series was shot in a studio at Fox Studios, and this time round consultation was provided from Crown Casino. Each episode will feature four comedians vying for a share of a $100,000 prizepool that will go to the charity of their choice. Expect the poker standard to have lifted from last series, although having fun is at the forefront. Comedians taking part this series include Jean Kittson, Akmal Saleh, Brendan Jones, Cindy Pan, Bruno Lucia, Pommy Johnson and George Kapiniaris. Expect to see some sporting stars and celebrities taking part as well, with Miss Australia Erin McNaught, Steven Bradbury, Mat Rogers, Shane Heal and Robert "Dipper" Dipierdomenico all in the mix. While it may not be the poker elite’s cup of tea, the coming season of Joker Poker will once again help out a number of great causes, plus provide some light relief on Saturday nights. You can see what’s in store for the series by watching this Joker Poker preview video on YouTube Joker Poker will be screened nationally every Saturday night on Channel Ten from October 7.
