Jonathan Karamalikis Starts 2013 as Number One in Australia

The first update of the PocketFives.com rankings has been completed and it is the poplar pro Jonathan “xMONSTERxDONGx” Karamalikis who starts 2013 as the number one ranked Australian online poker tournament player.
Karamalikis has not cashed online since Dec. 23 – almost certainly due to not playing over the festive period – but his results before the holidays were so great that he has managed to hang onto top spot. His last major score topped the scaled at $7,33868 which he was awarded for finishing fourth in the $100,000 Mega Deep tournament on 888poker.
Hot on the heels of the leader is Jay “SEABEAST” Kinkade, who just happens to be our tip to claim the number one berth for himself. Looking at Kinkade’s results, it appear he took most of Christmas off but hit the felt on Dec. 30 where he had five cashes in total. Kinkade has been one of the most consistent performers in online tournaments for as long as we can remember and that consistency is, no doubt, going to result in him being ranked number one in Australia.
Mounting a challenge on the top two players is Nurlan “Nu1ck” Boobekov and he has been fast out of the blocks in 2013. On New Year’s Day Boobekov finished fourth in The Hot $75 on PokerStars for a cool $4,657.32, just days after coming second in the $55r Big Antes – also on PokerStars. At time of writing, Boobekov’s largest cash tops the scales at $38,046.50 but by the end of 2013 we fully expect a six figure score to be registered, simply because he keeps getting so close so often. Good luck!
Rounding out the top 10 are a bunch of familiar fellow. They are Matt “mjw006” Wakeman; Michael “WaGe N WaRz” Federsen; James “supanova99” Bills; Steven “random.chu” Chew; Tom “tollgate” Grigg; World Series of Poker Europe bracelet winner Andrew “FUZZBUNGLE” Hinrichsen and Matt “brownie682” Brown.
2013 should be a very exciting year for poker and we predict Australian players will be in the headlines for all of the right reasons. PokerNetwork would like to wish you all the very best of luck for 2013 at the live and online felt.
