"Kara Scott Joins Party Poker"
January 18, 2010

As a general rule, the hotter a woman is, the more time she should spend in the spotlight, so it makes sense that one of the glamours of the world poker scene, Kara Scott is going to be getting a little more attention. You may know her as a top professional poker player or as a television presenter but she now also answers to the title of the newest member of PartyPoker's ‘Team Party’ - a team that consists of heavyweights such as 2009 Poker Hall Of Fame inductee Mike Sexton, Remy Biechel, Ian Frazer, Felipe ‘Mojave’ Ramos, Bodo Sbrzesny and of course Aussie home grown favourite Stewart Scott.

Kara is really on a winning ticket now, as her new deal features buy-ins for top live tournaments around the world as well as television presenting, not to mention that she will be at the helm as the Premier League moves to Vegas for the first time in February. You may recall that Kara recently presented the action from the PartyPoker.com World Open V at the Palm Beach Casino in London. As a Canadian, Kara will represent PartyPoker.com in the territory and will also play Canadian Poker Tour events. Meaning that you can expect to see more of Kara than ever before!

Kara said, “It is fantastic to have signed a deal to join Team Party. It works perfectly for me as I get the opportunity to further improve my game on the live circuit as well as carrying on presenting. I’m so excited about the future.”

A PartyPoker.com spokesman commented, “Kara is a great signing and we are really looking forward to working with her. She has historic links with PartyPoker.com after taking down the Sports Stars Challenge III and we have been super impressed by her progress since then. As well as being a great presenter, Kara is also a fantastic player with great results and the potential to go even further. We are excited about this new relationship.”

So now here is a little bit of ‘Did you know’ about one of poker’s hottest prospects. Kara was born in Alberta, Northern Canada, moved to the UK in 1999 and has been working in the media since 2002. Her media career started out in the wacky world of kick-boxing programming. After her last Van Damme inspired program she moved on to present a massive range of poker related programming and was recently installed as a presenter on GSN’s High Stakes Poker.

Kara’s poker resume is almost as drool-inducing as her media one. She made the final table of the PartyPoker Women’s World Open I in 2007, won the Sports Stars Challenge III in 2008 and was runner-up in the Irish Open for a whopping €312,600 in 2009. Kara is also the only woman to have cashed in both the 2008 and 2009 WSOP Main Events and only the second woman ever in history to have cashed in two WSOP Main Events. In 2008, she finished 104th for $41,816 and in 2009 she took 238th place. Her live earnings are over $550,000. We expect Kara to add to this impressive scorecard many times over the coming year.

Kara is a frequent contributor to a variety of poker media and is one half of the famous UK podcast ‘On the Rail.’ She has also been a producer on a movie and was the first presenter of a backgammon tournament on television in Europe. Kara will be a regular contributor to http://blog.partypoker.com/ and has a big following on twitter at http://twitter.com/karaOTR
