"Kara Scott - Poker's New 'It' Girl!"
April 16, 2009

It’s time to move over Tiffany Michelle because Kara Scott has been awarded the title of Queen of Poker as we verge on the 2009 WSOP.

In less then a year Scott has gone from a no-name to one of the hottest talents on the circuit after moving to the UK from her hometown of Alberta, Canada in 1999. Working in the media on many different TV shows she rose to fame as the European Poker Tour host for the 2007/08 season as well as one of the faces on a dedicated poker channel on Sky Television.

Scott’s poker game also started to improve after witnessing some of the great players on the EPT battle it out while also capturing a win in the PartyPoker Sports Stars Challenge. As a reward Scott was given an opportunity to play in the 2008 WSOP Main Event through sponsorship by PokerStars – and she didn’t let herself or her sponsor down.

Battling it out against the world’s best Scott pushed through to Day 5 of the Main Event eventually falling in 104th place for US$41,816 when her K heartsQ clubs was no good against Phi Nguyen’s A diams10 diams. This deep run would just extend her desire for tournament success as she backed it up finishing 52nd in EPT Budapest before arriving in Dublin for Easter and the 2009 Irish Open.

Over 700 runners turned out for the €3,200 Main Event and Scott would be a stand out as she arrived at the final table stuck in the middle of the pack. One by one would fall as Scott claimed the chip lead eventually taking a slight edge into heads-up play with Swede Christer Johansson. However it would be Johansson who would claim the title as Scott walked away with €312,600 for second placing, but more importantly respect from the poker community.

With the WSOP only a few tournaments away, Scott plans to change little as she continues to reside with her boyfriend Brian ‘sbrugby’ Townsend while continuing to work with the EPT.

Following Tiffany Michelle’s frowned-upon antics during last years Main Event, Scott can now definitely be seen as the upcoming Queen of Poker whether it be because of her stunning looks, improving poker skills or down-to-earth personality. Whatever way you look at Kara Scott – be on the look out as she rolls into the Rio for the 2009 WSOP full of confidence!
