Although the poker world is suffering from a Black Friday hangover, Australians are still grinding away with one such regular spiking a gold jersey in Full Tilt Poker’s FTOPS XX!
The 20th edition of Full Tilt Poker’s FTOPS sees 45 events grace the virtual felt during a three-week poker extravaganza featuring a vast array of poker disciplines to suit every grinder out there.
April 15th 2011 will always be a dark day in the online poker industry, and not only were the companies hit hard, but the players that frequent their site on a regular basis. For Full Tilt, poker’s Black Friday couldn’t come at a worse time on the eve of their highly popular FTOPS. With that popularity culled by approximately 40% numbers throughout the FTOPS XX have been lower than anticipated, however that hasn’t stopped Australians taking part for a chance to grab a huge slice of the FTOPS pie.
Full Tilt Poker Red Pro Jonathan ‘xMONSTERxDONGx’ Karamalikis has been a regular on the online scene for many years now, and after a monstrous number of hours on the Full Tilt Poker tables, he has finally been rewarded for his consistent play with a gold FTOPS jersey.
Taking his seat in the Event 33: $322 No Limit Holdem 6-Max Rebuy, Karamalikis was joined by 215 others to form a prizepool that fell short of the guaranteed $250,000, but saw a final four tables guaranteed a bankroll boosting payday. As play jostled back and forth, Karamalikis would make an update via his Twitter (@xMONSTERxDONGx) warning us of an impending victory, “The Dong currently chipleader of the FTOPS 300r with two tables left. Jump on the rail now!”
Just several hours after that, Karamalikis would tweet once again, “Heads Up for the Jersey in FTOPS #33 on Full Tilt Poker. Let's go!” Go he would, as Karamalikis would proceed to claim his maiden FTOPS victory after defeating Machinguer heads up to capture the title and $62,500 first prize.
With a gold jersey in the mail, Karamalikis will now just have a handful of days to claim a second jersey as just 12 more events remain in the schedule. One of those is Event 35: $535 No Limit Holdem 3x Shootout that Karamalikis is hosting himself, but if were a betting organisation (and most of our employees are) we would have our money on Karamalikis wanting to claim either, if not both, the Event 40: $2,100 No Limit Holdem Two-Day Multi-Entry or Event 45: $640 Main Event Multi-Entry.
