Karamalikis Still Number One; Host of Stars Just Outside the Top 10

Although we run the risk of sounding like a stuck record, we must once again tell you that Jonathan Karamalikis is still the number one Australian when it comes to online poker tournaments.
The man with the alias every poker commentator dreads, “xMONSTERxDONGx,” added to his bankroll and his ranking points tally earlier in the week when he won the Two For Tuesday tournament on Full Tilt Poker for $13,468. Add to that, a fourth place finish in the FTOPS Event #16 for $9,534 and a third place finish in the $16.50 Turbo on PokerStars ($2,723) and it was another solid week from the man who has been number one for what seems like forever.
Matt “mjw006” Wakeman bagged himself a nice win over on 888 Poker late last week when he took down the $10,000 guaranteed Hurricane tournament for a $2,668 score. Wakeman has been consistently making it into the money places, but it seems the Poker Gods are not letting him get over the final hurdle at the minute.
Another consistent player is Michael “WaGe N WaRz” Federsen who currently finds himself in third place, and within touching distance of Wakeman. In the past week alone Federsen has cashed 29 times, reached four final tables and won the $265 Knockout event on Full Tilt Poker. Amazing results we are sure you will agree.
Elsewhere in the Top 10, Nurlan “Nur1ck” Boobekov has had a superb week that resulted in six of his many cashes topping the scales at four figures. The biggest scores of the past seven days were for $5,771 and $3,579 which he was awarded for finishing fourth in the Full Tilt Poker Turbo Multi-Hundo and for winning the $12,500 Gtd Speed on PartyPoker.
Andrew “FUZZBUNGLE” Hinrichsen seems to have hit for at the right time for the upcoming World Series of Poker Asia-Pacific festival if his latest results are anything to go by. A few nights ago Hunrichsen finished fifth in the PokerStars SuperSonic for a cool $15,959 and the following day added $14,668 to that haul by coming second in the €75,000 GTD on Boss Media.

Although the top 10 places in the standings are the same as they have been for a few weeks now, there are a number of incredible players lurking just outside the top 10, ready to pounce. A good result or two for the likes of Brendon Rubie, Kris “ibluffheaps” Cunz, Liam “moffo47” Moffett, Dean “Deanuzz” Schnider or Oliver “SwoopAE” Gill could see them climb into the spotlight.
