Australia’s own Liam Anderson has been crowned Asian Poker Tour Player of the Week. Anderson has made Thailand his adopted home and the APT his poker tour of choice. He began his career on the live felt at the very first APT Asian Series event in the Philippines.
Since then he has become a regular at APT’s and has four event cashes to his name. 2011 has been his best year to date as Anderson clocked up three cashes including two in Cebu, Philippines and one in Goa, India. This year has got off to a flyer as he has already notched up a cash by coming 28th in the 6th All In Cebu Cup of APT Asian Series Cebu an event which had 335 entries and a re-entry format.
Anderson’s largest score to date on the tour came when he finished 16th, in his only main event cash on the APT to date at Cebu in 2011, and took home $1,535. With three more events to come on the tour this season he will be keen to add to his poker resume.
The APT will visit Manila, Philippines in April next with events in Goa, India and what is sure to be a massive event in Macau to follow. All remaining APT main events on the schedule for 2012 will follow the re-entry format whereby players eliminated on Day 1A will be permitted to re-enter the tournament on Day 1B. This format should ensure some large prize pools and adds an interesting dynamic to Day 1A play.
