In some exciting news, PokerNetwork are pleased to announce the final member of the Live Team for the inaugural $1,000 PokerNetwork Live vs Online Challenge which is to be held at the 2009 PokerNews Cup on September 29th and 30th.
While it appeared that the lineups were set, PokerNetwork received a couple of last minute withdrawals and were left to scramble for replacements.
“The Moose” pulled out of the event, believed to be overwhelmed by the thought of having to take on the might of the “CNT_CRUSHER” heads-up, while another last minute withdrawal from the team will certainly leave the ladies of Melbourne bitterly disappointed. The man they call “Grunter” has also withdrawn from the Live Team. While citing work-related reasons, it is believed that Mr Levy was a little intimidated by the online kids and couldn’t handle the thought of losing to “Strong Play” and having him surpass him as the king of Sydney town.
Moving on, PokerNetwork looked for replacements and were thrilled to have Lisa Walsh lined up in the gates and raring to go. She’s looking to scruff these kids by the ear and slap them around in her typically aggressive style.
We’ve also just received word that the Live Team, captained by Aussie Millions champ Stewart Scott, have submitted a “wildcard entry” for the final spot on the team, which has been met with the approval of both PokerNetwork and Crown.
The final player on the Live Team will be none other than Clonie Gowen!
That’s right folks, Miss Gowen will be in town for the PokerNews Cup and was very excited to be taking her spot in the team for this challenge. While not a PokerNetwork regular, Gowen has been a regular visitor to Australia and big supporter of the Aussie Millions. With Gowen making herself available, she was an obvious selection choice as a wildcard, bringing a whole new level of profile to the already much-hyped event.
With over $1.6 million in live tournament earnings in her career including a WPT title and nine WSOP cashes, Gowen will bring a wealth of experience, skill and guile to take on the best online talent in the country.
Now suddenly the PokerNetwork Live vs Online Challenge has taken a whole new twist as a cyclone hits Melbourne next week! For more information, or to catch up on the latest war of words, head over to the thread in the PokerNetwork forums.
