Melbourne Poker Championships to Host ANZPT

Posted at 21:44 2009-04-03
We all know that Sydney will be playing host to the next ANZPT event – but as the schedules for the 2009 Melbourne Poker Championships have been released, it has been announced that Crown Casino will be the host for stop three on the PokerStars.net Australia and New Zealand Poker Tour!

In the second week of the Championships there will be a $2,700 PokerStars.net ANZPT Feature Event that will be run over three days and will account for the third stop in the season one schedule.

This addition to the Melbourne Poker Championships schedule is the ‘icing on the cake’ to one that is packed full of a wide range of poker variants for players of all budgets. At the lower end we find the return of the Morning Series that hasn’t graced the Crown Poker Room since Autumn last year. Four events from the Monday of the first week include a No Limit Hold'em, Omaha Hi-Lo, Mixed Stud and Crazy Pineapple – all for the low buy-in of $120. At the other end of the scale just prior to the Main Event is the $5,200 High Stakes Hold'em Event that is expected to draw more numbers than ever before, as it takes place after the ANZPT Feature Event.

The Melbourne Poker Championships will again be featuring a $100,000 Challenge winner takes all; which in the past has drawn two tables and will most likely do so again. However it will be the $1,100 Main Event that is likely to attract the most attention with it featuring a repechage, allowing players that bust on the first days the option to re-enter the tournament on day three.
