Mjw006's Hot Form Is Rewarded As He Becomes The Number 1 Australian

Posted at 07:00 2012-07-23 by Barry Gallagher

There is an Australian who just can’t stop winning and that is mjw006. His spectacular form this month has been rewarded and he is the new number 1 online tournament player in Australia. Some of our other grinders had some great results this week as well notably WaGe N WaRz, supanova99 and newcomer random.chu.

The exact quote I used last week when describing mjw006’s performance so far this month was “monster”. The man from Newcastle, NSW continued his spectacular form by closing out another tournament this time on 888Poker in the $20,000 Saturday Challenge which earned him $6,137. He came agonisingly close to winning the $109 with rebuys on PokerStars where he finished second for $7,750. Another stunning example of the new Australian Number 1’s form was in the 1,373 player field $11 with rebuys No Limit Hold’em on PokerStars, yet another trophy in the locker and $7,745 as well. He finished his week with another win this time it was the $44 No Limit Hold’em on PokerStars for $2,012.

WaGe N WaRz saw his position drop to number 2 in Australia this week. The grinder only had 15 cashes this week but he did manage one gigantic score. The Sunday $109 Rebuy is one of the week’s biggest tournaments and the Aussie player finished fourth for a juicy $17,535. He managed three other four figure scores including $1,956 for second place in the $82 No Limit Hold’em 6-Max Hyper Turbo.

Last week we reported on the excellent form of brownie682 as he closed out some big wins. However, like some of his fellow countrymates he had a quiet week this time out. He still managed some results; The Hotter $33 on PokerStars created a $62k prizepool and brownie682 finished up in fourth spot for $4,006. His other top result this week came in the $82 No Limit Hold’em 6-Max Hyper Turbo where second place was good enough for $2,909.

Outside the top four, there were a few other notable feats. It was supanova99 who had another massive Australian result in a Sunday major in the $530 Sunday 500 for $14,091. He picked up two other healthy results during the week with $4,690 and $5,859 for his final table finishes in the $162 Nightly Fifty Grand and the $215 No Limit Hold’em both on PokerStars. There was newcomer to the top 10 this week and it was random.chu who made a debut at sixth. Big results are rewarded generously in the rankings and this Aussie had three big ones in quick succession. His first came on 11th of July as he added $9,468 to his account for third in The Big $162. He then won the $27 No Limit Hold’em Knockout Turbo for $5,544. Finally, he took down a massive $20,871 score for the $162 Sunday 6-Max on PokerStars.

There was another healthy result for bazooka87 as he won the $27 No Limit Hold’em Knockout Turbo for $3,680. All in it was a quieter week than normal for our Aussie grinders but there was still a lot to talk about as some of our players managed some massive scores earning a large portion of a normal persons annual salary in just one tournament!
