MPCC Main Event Day 2: Ryan Hong Claims The Lead, Just 45 Players Remain

Posted at 22:00 2012-09-15 by Matthew Pitt

The PokerStars Macau Poker Cup Championship Main Event has started to get real serious as there are only 45 players remaining; those 45 are being lead by Ryan Hong.

Hong ended Day 2 with a gargantuan stack of 430,300 chips. Hong's stack is that large that he could double up anyone from sixth place onwards and still be in the tournament. To put Hong's stack into a perspective, second placed Rui Chen bagged up 264,200 chips at the end of the night. This should be Hong's tournament to lose now.

Rounding out the top ten in chips are Jin Wenlong, Lei Zhang, Sparrow Cheung, Lisi Wei, Hung-Sheng “Shaq” Lin, Hon Cheung Kwong, Ying Kit Chan and Andy Asihwardji.

The money bubble will burst during Day 3, the player who finishes in 32nd place gaining the unwanted title of bubble boy (or girl) but their elimination will secure a pay day of at least HK$36,100 for any player who still has chips in front on them.

Day 3 will see the 45 remaining players get whittled down to the final table. Will Hong's massive stack see him glide through to the finale with ease or will his luck run out and allow someone else to take over his mantle? Only time will tell.
